Finished a walk in Purfleet, decided to do and extra 30 mins walk to here as we used to stay for the banger racing. Room was clean and tidy and very big! bar open and good prices. Didn’t have breakfast so can’t comment. Hot water in the bathroom ran well. Only downside is that the heating on regulated hotel wide so you can’t turn on just your radiator when you want.

I have already written this review and posted it on Booking.com, the reply from the hotel was very delusional. Has to be the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. Arrived on a Sunday evening. Only a hand fall of cars in park so easy to park. Clearly not many people staying here. Not a good sign. Horrified to find that only ONE member of staff to be working. Even though they have a restaurant, not even a sandwich available. I was told if I wanted something to eat 'have a takeaway delivered'. The bar was open, which was staffed by the same young lady on the reception. That's when I found out she was alone, confirmed by her when I asked. Her health and safety definitely not considered working alone. Love to see the risk assessment written up by her company bosses. I'd also say she was not long out of college. Considering very few people staying, I was given a room where the TV and bedside lamp didn't work. That was because of faults with the wall sockets. Even the socket by the kettle didn't work. Then there was the noise from the motorway, which was on my side of the hotel. It was a constant drone all night. I obviously didn't sleep very well. I felt there was no point moaning to the young lady who put me in the room adjacent to the motorway, that the majority of wall sockets didn't work, because before settling down in my room for the evening I took a shower. The shower tray quickly filled and if I had been as long as I would of liked, the water would of come over the tray flooding the room. The main point is I'd got ready for bed, not to move rooms, or to bother the only member of staff. I wasn't dressed appropriately for that. At least breakfast was almost adequate. No porridge available. The Hotel response was; Good day, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review about our hotel. We take all of your comments seriously and like to give the best service. Our staff go above and beyond to ensure your comfort. Warmest Regards The Thurrock Hotel Team I felt this reply was a total disregard to my review. Not even an apology.

Working in a meeting room here today- wanted to leave a review to thank Ellesse at reception. I must have returned to 10/15 times to ask the girl 1500 questions. She never complained, was so helpful and really polite. 10/10 customer service.

The hotel is conveniently located. Rooms are clean but a bit tired. Hotel has no lift and breakfast was a bit greasy but otherwise a comfortable stay overall and would stay again.

I couldn’t recommend this hotel enough. Firstly on arrival the General Manager was there on the front desk to welcome us. I work in hospitality and this was beautiful to experience, very welcoming, professional and very warming - I couldn’t have felt more welcome! The bedroom, we booked a suite and it was so lovely! Jacuzzi bath, sound system, open space, floor length mirror and essential amenities. The lovely lady behind the bar, Keira (hope I spelt right) was very accommodating, kind and overall you felt very welcome and she’s very warming. Working in hospitality as Sales and Events Manager (based in Reading) I asked for a show around of the venue in which one of their private hire spaces which was UNREAL and for private hires, occasions or events! This is the place for you! Especially with a GM and staff like the ones I met. I had room service - sausage and mash with lashings of gravy and it was PERFECT their extensive menu had all the classics plus more and delicious sausages. I want to thank them both for looking after me and providing a safe, kind and memorable experience! Thanks again and I will be back… hopefully this time can spend some more time and visit local shopping centres down the road like lakeside and blue water! Flying visit as wasn’t in the area long but honestly highly recommend and thank you again Kim and Keira! I appreciated you both

Really nice and clean place. It suscks that the reception is not monitored, it could have made the place even more wonderful. Other than that, it is a cool place in itself.

AVIOD!!! My family used one of the function rooms for a party and the manager was horrible and completely unhelpful. The manager was ready to ruin the event. I have also had many friends and families complain about the same issues. The place is a joke so if you don’t want to be disappointed better find a helpful venue.

A room was booked (through a third party) for myself for 2 nights. I called ahead to confirm the booking and to advise I would need a groung floor room (no elevator) and also I would be arriving late. Of course when I check in no room on the ground floor was available as I should have checked in earlier (she says). The lady on reception would not offer any help. I left and booked the Premier Inn down the road. The hotel would not give a refund. Very poor customer service. NEVER AGAIN

Checked in 11th Jan. Requested a quiet room. Woken several times by noise above me. Endured for a while before complaining at reception. I asked to be moved but apparently they were fully booked, this wasn't reflected by the spaces in the car park. I enquired what was above my room as it sounded worse than inconsiderate guests, to be told there were escape rooms above! So much for my quiet room. I was offered a complimentary breakfast and a late checkout as way of an apology. Why would I want a late checkout on a business stay-I have to work. Receptionist told me that the rooms close at 9pm-it was actually nearer to 10pm. The whole place is tired and very dated. When the loo was flushed and the basin tap running, the bath filled with waste water from the plug hole. That explains the sewage smell from the bathroom. If you want to experience an escape room, this could be for you. If you're looking for a quiet, relaxing stay in a nice hotel, look elsewhere.

Stayed in this hotel on what was the hottest day of the year so far. There was air con in the reception area but unfortunately none in the room. There was a fan that was quiet enough to be left on. The room was big and had spare towels and pillows. The bathroom window had a very large crack in it and didn't open. Wasn't really an issue for us but we did mention it to reception as soon as we got to the room so as not to be blamed for it! Staff were friendly. Not much around and you couldn't really walk anywhere but that suited us as we were looking for a quiet night after a few hectic ones. Had dinner in the bar, very reasonably priced and was lovely.
