   What's not to like? As a york resident i completed a job for the owner (mobile mechanic) and came to a deal for a couple of nights away. Great location. Lovely lodges: Clean, comfy and has everything needed: TV, oven. Microwave. Plates, trays, utensils etc. Really clean: hot tub spotless along with the complete lodge. In a beautiful setting with a great fishing lake and a nice pub in walking distance (fox and roman 5 minute walk) My little lad loved it, has made the few nights before Christmas brilliant. Thanks so much Bill, Andy, Sarah and the team. Look forward to a returning visit.

   We stayed at the house at york lakeside lodges. Beautifully decorated for Christmas. We stayed 2 days to visit york Christmas Market. Only 6 min drive to york city. Staff were helpful, lovely location, good amenities.

   What's not to like. It's November, we've travelled 40 minutes from Doncaster to stay here Monday to Friday. It's a beautiful quiet location, Lakeside, secluded, hot tub, short dog walk for our 13 yo Border Collie. Perfect for the two of us. I can recommend the local pub (easy walk from the site)The Fox and Roman.... Great food and real Yorkshire hand pulled Ales.....

   Apart from the location and surroundings we were really disappointed. We have stayed in many fishing lodges over the years and never had any complaints. After 5 mins of being on site my mom’s dog was set on by two large bull dogs because they were not secured. My mom’s jack russell was on a lead and my mom had to quickly pick her up while they tried to still get at her. If you take your dog take your own safety gate so you can keep your door open if needed. We spoke to staff before our stay saying we would be using two pegs outside our 4 birth lodge so they were aware. Couldn’t fish outside because one was taken up and others were fishing across so lines would’ve crossed. No trolleys taken as we didn’t think they were needed so both fishermen 60 and 78 had to then carry everything round the other side of the lake. Not happy at all and very weedy so only a few fish caught. Beautiful grounds and setting within walking distance of shops and bus rides to York. Lodge itself needs updating doors dropped so not closing properly, not enough utensils, dirty utensils so had to wash up. Comfortable beds and clean bedding but shower not great. Overall for the price compared to other companies, it was very disappointing. The hot tub was only used by one person due to back ache carrying gear all the time. It was too far away from our door, no step into it and had to walk across muddy decking to get to it with no privacy. First time ever I was happy to leave and will not be returning.

   Just got back from a stay here and honestly, it was absolutely lovely. The whole place is really well looked after — the grounds are neat, peaceful and the lodges themselves are spot on. Inside, everything was spotless and modern, with all the little details thought through. Staff were great too. Super friendly and helpful without being over the top. You can tell they care about the place and the people staying. It’s the kind of spot that works whether you’re after proper peace and quiet or quality time with family. Really calm setting but still close enough to York (only about 2 miles) if you fancy a day out or a meal somewhere. We’ll definitely be booking again. Already missing it a bit, to be honest.

   We stayed in Rowan Lodge which was advertised as being wheelchair accessible and having an accessible bathroom. Whilst the lodge was generally clean and comfortable, the accessible bathroom was not as described. The bathroom did have grab rails, but they were positioned badly and were almost useless. The floor was very slippery when wet and the toilets were low. We have attached photos so that anyone with access needs including wheelchair users can make a more informed decision about the suitability.

   Just got back from York lakeside lodges stayed 4 night this was are 5th time staying. Every time we stay we are made so welcome from the staff Pete and Sarah they go out of there way to make you feel welcome. The lodes ate very clean and warm. The owner even sent me a bottle of wine for my birthday. We will defo go back can't fault it x

   Stayed in lodge 11 with private hot tub and the added bonus of a sauna in the lodge, fantastic views of the lake and swans. Total peace and quiet what more could you ask definitely going again

   My wife and I have just returned home from a 3 night break, we stayed in Beech Lodge 2 with a hot tub. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the lodge is so comfortable and cosy with everything you need and is in an excellent location. Perfect for just relaxing or exploring York and surrounding areas. We would highly recommend and will definitely be back.

   Went for 48 hours for a birthday weekend lake was stunning great location and secure lake was full of weed after spoken to many anglers they advised that they didn’t catch all week and some have only been there a couple of days and still not caught I stayed in lodge 10 and the cabin was not in the best condition hot tub ok grass in the bottom I paid £590 for a weekend fishing all I caught was weeds clumps of weeds the pegs are in need of updating. The tv didn’t work and cold in the lodge. Overall opinion, the lodge and lake both need updating and maintained to a better standard in the end went home there sister lodge is better
