Took our third cat, Cookie, to get her first vaccination and the whole process felt really rushed. I get it being busy but instead of offering our cat a terrible experience rebook it! The vet didn’t show any compassion to the little kitten as she injected her microchipped and caused lots of pain. Followed by the her first vaccine which was done in even more pain!!! Our cat was a little angel till yesterday and now she’s all afraid of being picked up any more and hides away. Really wish we went to the other Abbey vets practice as we had a much more pleasant experience there…

Our family dog was registered here and due to neglect we later lost this dog. He was the heart and soul of the house and family and upon being seen by one of the vets here, he was prescribed something which after having had a second opinion shouldn’t have been prescribed without a proper examination. We were informed by this second opinion that a build up of black wax limits how far in the ear you can go and that in order to have seen whether the infection was deep in ear, the dog would have to be put under sedation. But because our dog deteriorated badly and suddenly this couldn’t happen. To which the second opinion vets took care of our dog as best they could and told us that toxins had leaked into his brain from medication he was given. We lost our dog that night when he was given anti sickness, anti-seizure medication and antibiotics by this amazing second opinion vet (not abbey vets) he was finally out of pain and sleeping soundly. If our dog was checked properly and given the right treatment at the right time he may still be here. For this reason we have unregistered all other family pets from this branch. He was just 5 years old!

Debbie receptionists at barnsley branch was rude to me when I rang this week to book my dog in for vaccination booster and check up. I was lovely on phone to her just wanting to book an appointment and got attitude and rudeness its not on. I rang after 8:30 and got Cudworth Abbey vets and got a lovely receptionists who booked me in. Abbey vets need to train debbie on her attitude as they will loose clients and their pets. It right narked me off and its not on.

Amazing vets! Fantastic care and sound advice for my old cat. Definitely feel they have the animals best interests at heart. My cat (and me!) were very well looked after. Warm caring vets, nurses and reception staff. Amazing value for money too. Thank you to Liz and all the team that took care of my cat Ralph.

By far the worst vets ever!!! The staff are very rude (there’s the odd polite one but 90% of them are just pure rude and in my opinion do not care or mustn’t enjoy their job!) I’ve had a number of encounters with this vets for a variety of different reasons. Most of the time you get different answers from different members of staff and then when you say what you had previously been told they act like you are the liar! They have no sympathy or empathy when you’re going through a difficult time with your pets, and they don’t give the care or attention that they should! They simply want your money is the way it seems!! Will never go here again and I advise anyone who truely cares for their animal to go somewhere else too. They absolutely destroyed my final moment with one of my pets last year, and now a year later (for a different reason) getting told different things from different people AGAIN for my other pet.

I wanted to give a really big Thankyou to Rita for everything you did to keep my precious boy Humphrey with me as long as he was. Rita listened to me in depth and I felt she really understood and wanted to help Humphrey which for a long time, at my previous vets, they were just happy to say they were ‘stumped’ and leave me with that. After my appointment with Rita, she facilitated a referral to an incredible neurologist of whom helped me understand Humphrey and what was sadly happening for him. As a result of going to Abbey vets for a second opinion, it led me to be able to understand my boy and help him be as comfortable as possible in what turned out to be the last year of his life. I’ll be eternally grateful to everyone who helped Humphrey and were sympathetic to how severely petrified of vets he was. Although Humphrey sadly lost his battle recently, without abbey vets, that could have happenned a lot sooner, so again, Thankyou everyone, so much for helping my gorgeous baby Humphrey. My dog had surgery today at Dodworth Road Barnsley. Service provided, caring and professional from start to finish. All staff so friendly, practise was spotlessly clean cannot recommend enough. He also had his pre op appointment at the Royston Branch who like Barnsley were all fantastic. Thank you

I don't know what happened to Abbey Vets. Use to be very good, but this last 18 months, every visit has been poor - long waits, vet in a rush, doesn't do a thorough assessment. Sadly our dog died after 2 weeks of them saying he was fit and healthy, they wouldn't even address our concerns. Our next dog will definitely not be registered with them.
