As someone who runs their own catering business, I naturally tend to be a little more critical when dining out. I pay close attention to how dishes are described and, more importantly, how well that description is executed on the plate. Overall, this is a very nice place with attentive staff and a lovely atmosphere. The setting is welcoming, service is friendly and professional, and it’s clear that care has been put into creating an enjoyable dining experience.

Popped into Ciao Roma for an early evening dinner. We Liked the look of the dining area entered from Drummond Street and asked if we could sit there. Despite no one being there we were told there were not many tables for two !!! Turns out it might be a different restaurant called La Hispaniola ! owned by the same restaurant. Don’t know why it’s all so secretive. Anyway the food was good although a bit more Pepperoni on the pizza would be nice, the waitress was great , the waiter a bit dour. Not the cheapest but worth a try. Β£86 for 1 starter, 2 pizza, 1 dessert & 1 bottle of their cheapest red.

Yummy food but gets cold very very quickly so they could be served on warmed plates. Pricey but about right for a touristy area. Just a note that they don't allow any tasters for ice cream and take a while for drinks and food to come out

I had heard mixed things about this place and I was initially very pleased with the charming and attentive service. It is a shame, therefore, that the experience rather unravelled as the evening went on. There was a significant mix-up with a gluten-free pizza order for our party. While the staff were apologetic and rectified it, the replacement pizza arrived looking identical to the standard base, which naturally caused some concern and required us to double-check. The colleague who made the error was very gracious in their apology, which we appreciated. My main course, the fregola with seafood, was unfortunately quite a let-down. The dish was so dominated by an overwhelming amount of black pepper that the delicate taste of the seafood was entirely lost. It was rather a struggle to finish, which I did purely from a dislike of waste, but it was not an enjoyable dish. The real disappointment, however, was the complete lack of check-back from any staff member to see if our meals were satisfactory. When I did finally have the opportunity to provide feedback on the pasta to a passing waiter as the plates were cleared, my comments were acknowledged in a rather dismissive manner before he moved on, which felt rather unsatisfactory. It’s a great pity and I'm afraid the less favourable things I had heard about the place now appear to have been quite accurate.

I've eaten in a lot of Italian restaurants in the city and this one is one of the better ones for sure. The pasta is quite authentic, with typical sauces to choose from and not too far off what you'd get on your holidays to Italy. Not too big a selection which is a good sign in my book. Lots of pizzas, starters and sides to pick from too. There is a good kids menu also with smaller pizzas for the little ones and a reduced price which is always helpful. There's also a pirate room. That's right, a pirate themed dining room. Our wee boy loved it. Spent the whole meal inventing stories. Only downside is price. It's pretty steep at c.Β£16 for a plate of pasta. Or same for a half bottle of Chianti. Then again it is very tasty so whatever floats your boat. I thought it was a tad on the expensive side, but not too bad. We had starter of calamari, 2 mains, kids pizza, 1 dessert with dessert wine, half bottle of red wine and a coffee. Β£75 in total.

We went in only for dessert and we were given a table at the entrance. The ice creams were delicious however the frozen fruits were too hard to chew. We enjoyed the dessert wine.
