   We came to Maki and Ramen at St. Andrew Square Mall with really high expectations, especially because we love eating ramen. At first, the ambience was promising — the décor gives off a beautiful Sakura-Japan vibe, and the place feels warm and inviting. However, things changed once the food arrived. The ramen broth, which we expected to be thick, rich, and full of umami, unfortunately tasted more like a bland soup. It lacked depth and the signature flavour you usually look forward to in a proper bowl of ramen. The noodles also didn’t taste quite authentic, which added to the disappointment. We understand the place was quite busy, so it felt like the food may have been rushed. Still, for a restaurant known for ramen, we were hoping for much better quality.

   Food was good for a chained Japanese restaurant. What I didn't like was the spacing of the restaurant, felt like I was dining with others but service was okay. Went back there couple of times mainly because of the food. Recommend the Katsu Rice and the Black Garlic Ramen.

   Ramen is soooo good! Love Tonkotsu ramen the broth is so comfortin and the chashu pork tasted great and tender. Maki sushi here is also very good. One of the authentic Japanese restaurant you must try!

   The black garlic tonkatsu noodles were good. Food was nice, however we felt observed and a bit forced to finish quickly (although there were other free tables). My kimchi bowl was taken away the instant I "almost" finished it. I say "almost" since I did not have enough reaction time to say "Not yet" but was forced to say "Yes" when the waitress asked if I was done. Otherwise, a nice place for Japanese cuisine.

   First time here for a solo treat for myself, I was warmly welcomed. As I looked through the menu, it was a tough decision to decide what to eat. I asked for help and Tyson (my waiter) kindly helped advise me make a decision. Didn’t take long, service was quick. Overall delighted with my Ramen, I went for the Steak Takati! I recommend if you like a spicy kick! Very pleased. Thank you!

   Got turned away from a couple places for food before coming here about an hour before they closed. Was happy to just get served and eat something. The wait staff was nice and attentive. The food was good, although a bit oily. The pork garlic was better than the chicken ramen also. The chicken had a weird spice flavor to it. Soft shell roll was good.

   I've seen a few of these around Edinburgh, so I decided to check this location out. It's more of a modern eatery, so their menu is mainly on your phone. Everything I had tasted absolutely amazing, and the two staff members who helped serve me were very kind and helpful. Highly recommended to come back again.

   Enjoyed lunch at Maki & Ramen. Slightly in the expensive side but seemed standard for sushi. The menu is accessed by a QR code, my data didn't work very well so had to connect to the WiFi, was a little frustrating having to register. Something for everyone on the menu. I recommend the soft shell crab rolls and the chicken katsu curry (perfect for children). Friendly service, had to ask for side plates as we were all sharing and cutlery for the children. I would go again, I preferred it to Yo Sushi.

   This is the second branch of Maki & Ramen I've visited in Edinburgh and it didn't disappoint. The staff were very friendly and I loved the atmosphere. Allergens are clear on the menu which was helpful for my partner who is lactose intolerant. The ramen is very good, nice big portion, and packed with flavour. This restaurant is a favourite of mine now whenever I come back to Edinburgh!

   Worth the wait time to be seated. The dishes were served incredibly fast and were delicious. The seasonal apple gyoza were firm favourites. Only reason I would not give 5 stars is due to one of the staff spilling ramen into the lap and down one of my party sitting at the table, we were given an apology. Really nice spot for authentic feeling dishes.
