I love City and it's a firm favourite if I'm meeting friends or visiting the city for some reason. Menu is varied and food cooked to order. There really is something for everyone. You can have a traditional chippy meal or opt for pizza, burger and other classics. Depending on when you are there it's possible to sit for a while and chill with friends. It's licensed so alcohol is available. It can be busy at other times and you could have to be mindful of your time. Lovely deserts complimented by Italian ice cream. I also love the booths.

From far away with hungry. Stoped at City Restaurant and ordered the battered fish and chips with mushy peas. A little bland but good. Also the “margherita” pizza more like a simple salsa and cheese pizza from Little Caesar’s, no basil and too little character. Last but not least, the Rum and raisins shake. That was goood!! Free WIFI and tap water. Staff is very friendly and attentive. I give a 4 star for food and 5 for service. A total of 34 and change pounds.

Very delicious fish and chips! Fiancée has celiac and was able to enjoy fish and chips that were just as amazing as the regular option with no issues. Staff were super friendly and knowledgeable, it seems like everyone is happy to be there. Very big portion size! Great after a long day of walking. (Gluten free fish and beer pictured closer to camera)

WOW. Just WOW. I haven't had food this good in a while, I personally ordered the BBQ pork burger w/ an IRN BRU, and OH MY GOSH, that was GOOD. So much flavour, the chips were cooked perfectly. They had all sorts of condiments on the table. Don't get me started on the view, that was a lovely view looking over Edinburgh and it's historical buildings. A friend ordered a pizza, and they said it was very good too, so amazing food overall! I am very impressed, I will definitely try to go again next time I'm up here, Absolutely amazing overall❤️

This restaurant was recommended to us by our receptionist from our hotel. The food was fantastic! I want to go back tomorrow for the haggis, neeps and tatties! The whiskey sauce that is served with the haggis just elevates it to next level delicious. We were a family, so we also got fish cake starter and haggis bon bons. Yum and yum! The fish and chips were cooked to perfection. The staff were impressively accommodating and attentive. Thanks for a great meal!

Go!!! The fish and chips are AMAZING and a very reasonable price. I also got the shrimps as an appetizer but I’d skip them next time and stick with the fish. Very good crust and perfectly cooked fish in the middle! The tartar sauce is incredible (far superior than anything I’ve had in the US) and the chips are very distinct and cooked perfectly. If I ever go back to Edinburgh (which I absolutely need to), this is a first stop for me!

Very delicious breakfast with plenty of options to choose from including vegan. Food was prepared in about 5 minutes. Polite staff, clean and relaxing environment. Haven't tried lunch or dinner yet, but definitely would come back again in the future.

Great fish and chips restaurant. Nice, modern interior, not super cozy but the fish was awesome! Chips also really crisp, which we really liked. Good portion and definitely worth the money! Best fish and chips we had so far in Scotland, give it a try!

Best fish and chips that I’ve had thus far during my Edinburgh visit. Excellent experience and lovely service. Really clean. Can’t ask for more

Extremely popular and very busy restaurant. Best to book in advance. Had a 20 minute wait for a free table. Staff kept us updated on table availability. Food cooked fresh. Ample portion size and was delicious. Service was very good. This was our second visit and it did not disappoint. Will be back next time we are in Edinburgh.
