My friends and I had dinner this evening at Desi Pakwan on Leith Walk, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The food was very tasty, freshly cooked to order, and served piping hot with generous portions. We ordered Kofta Kebabi Handi, Keema Champ, and Chicken Malai Tikka, along with Achari naan, plain naan, and basmati rice β all of which were delicious. However, my only disappointment was that all the dishes looked and tasted quite similar, almost as if they came from the same base sauce. For the premium prices, I expected each dish to have its own unique flavor and presentation, as described on the menu. A few notes for visitors β the restaurant is not licensed, but you can bring your own drinks (no corkage fee), and itβs cash only. Despite that, the meal was enjoyable and worth a try.

My two friends and I have just been for a meal this evening at Desi Pakwan on Leith Walk. The meal itself was,i have to say was very tasty, good portions, freshly cooked to order and piping hot. We had Kofta Kebabi Handi,Keema Champ and Chicken Malai Tikka, with Achari nan,Plain nan and Basmati rice. My only criticism is,that all the food looked the same, leading me to think, it had all come from the one pot of sauce which was a pity.I would have expected better, considering you are paying premium prices, each dish should have its own identity and characteristics which are highlighted on the menu,it was not the case. They do not have a licence, so we took a few cold beers to drink, with no corkage charge and also be aware that's its cash only.

Very delicious daisy food and the taste is authentic in my opinion. Although the place is small, inside is nice, clean, and cozy. I recommend this restaurant if youβre in the area. They only accept cash, but there is a cash machine beside the restaurant.

What a fantastic place to eat at, the food was delicious with generous portions and very reasonably priced. The restaurant itself is unpretentious and served me some of the best Asian/Punjab food I've ever eaten. Even the breads were superb. Great service from very friendly staff in a chilled and relaxed atmosphere. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this restaurant and can't wait to return.

We went for their pori cholay weekend breakfast. 8Β£ per person. It opens around 1030am on the weekend. Space is limited so come early. No parking. The food was ok. Pori is made from flour rather than high grade (maida). Cholay were ok. Allo (potato) tarkari (curry) was very different with onion. So a complete turn off. Halwa was disappointing. I thi k it was suji but didnβt feel the typical halwa that one is used too. The haleem was ok. Payyie was just oil so didnβt even try. Overall, id miss this place. Esp given that itβs at leith and parking / space is a mess. But if you are really dying for pori then give it a try. May return for the karahii, although unlikely given that they put onions in their karahi as well!!

The open kitchen does need better extraction and they do serve a lot of takeaway customers. However, the menu is extensive and my dishes were excellent, very tasty and in my view more authentic in flavour than the usual Anglo-Indian fare. The naan (always a good benchmark) was great. I had chicken cooked on the bone as a main. It's not a flash restaurant but each to their own. I had no complaints about the speed of service or cleanliness of the table etc.
