I can only really give the whole experience five stars based on how everything occurred: We'd just so happened to stop outside the restaurant, on the way to getting salt and pepper chips at another restaurant, but then as we stopped, I immediately saw salt and pepper chips on the menu outside of Jimmy's Express. Within a heartbeat, a server came out, asked us how we are and I mentioned what food I was looking for, and he quite humoruously said, "well, you cannot eat outside, come on in". He took our orders quickly and the food was with us within moments. We were also given complimentary oranges.

Excellent service and taste. If you are looking for an alternative from Scotch food, this authentic oriental restaurant is just the best fit for you. Jimmy Jr. is super welcoming and friendly, greeting every guest and looking after needs from every table, making you feel like visiting an old friend here. The beef&potato, Golden Pork plus rice and Mapo Tofu we had were absolutely delicious. I wish I didn’t have the lunch so that I could order more dishes here!

Jimmy's Express A few days ago I passed by this restaurant and the staff, who seemed like the owner, kindly invited me in. I told him I’d already eaten, and he just smiled and said to come again. This time I did, ordering fried rice for takeout. It wasn’t busy, so another staff member asked me to sit while waiting. The food came out fast, and the fried rice was tasty.

Loved everything that I tried in today's meal. The lamb brisket was amazing and so was the beef with pickled cabbage. Red bean ice was absolutely delicious! Would definitely recommend all of these three dishes!

My friend and I went here just a few days ago. Just for transparency, I am American and the friend I was with is from China. We enjoy Chinese food a great deal and eat it almost daily (my friend enjoys cooking quite a bit - lucky for me). We've been to many Chinese restaurants during our time here in the UK. This restaurant has lovely atmosphere and the staff were pleasant. The the food arrived very quickly after we ordered. The reason for only giving 2 stars is that the food just wasn't very enjoyable. We ordered 3 dishes (only 2 are seen in the photo) and didn't have a desire to finish any of them, and it wasnt because of the portions. The food just didn't taste great and we felt unsatisfied. Overall, we didn't feel that the quality matched the price.

Great authentic Hong Kong / Cantonese cuisine in the Old Town - the dishes tasted really close to the Chinese food I used to have in Hong Kong. I was quite surprised by the “Mala” chicken (named as “hot and spicy chicken” on the menu, but in Chinese it actually refers to spicy and numbing seasoned chicken) - the Mala dishes I previously had in the UK were mostly cooked with spicy (and quite often sweet) sauce, and in Jimmy’s Express it was authentically done with Sichuan peppercorns; the chicken itself is flavourful and not tough at all (chicken is usually tough in Edinburgh, sadly), really delicious. Good Cantonese roasted meat as well. The roast duck was juicy and with crispy skin. Char Siu (barbecued pork) was well marinated, and it would be better if the cut had more fat. We will definitely return, as there are a lot more on the menu.

Staff were friendly and provided complimentary chicken wings when I was waiting for the other guest. Service was efficient and food was great – we had the Beef Ho Fun and Baked Pork Cutlet with Tomato on Rice (as pictured). Though not Cafe de Coral, this was the closest thing we could get to authentic Hong Kong Cantonese cuisine in Scotland. Have recommended to friends and will definitely come again!

The staff treated us like royalty. The food was outstanding. Loved everything about this place. Can't recommend it enough. THANK YOU Edit: Went back the next night! Still fantastic ;) Next time I visit Edinburgh I will stop by.
