Found this place by accident and glad we did. Although it was quite busy on our visit the staff were friendly, drinks and food fairly priced. We both really enjoyed the fish and chips with fish shop trimmings of pickled onion, gherkin, peas, tartar sauce and curry sauce at £16.50. Elderly mother couldn’t finish hers but staff happy to provide recyclable carton and foil to take some home

Popped in on the way past at about 7:30 on a Friday night looking for food and a drink. We're given a table immediately in an almost full restaurant. The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly. Our mains were about £15 each. We were offered 3 courses for £20 but didn't have the time. Will definitely call again on future journeys. Thanks

My husband and I came here for the first time during our stay in Cheddar. Although the pub itself is dated and needs modernisation, it was reassuringly quiet and calm inside compared to the busyness of the restaurants in Cheddar Gorge. The staff were very polite and welcoming. The food was lovely. My husband had the ribeye steak and it was full of flavour and cooked to perfection. I had the vegetarian burger with a gluten free bun (I have a gluten intolerance) and fries. I did enjoy my food, the chips especially, but the burger wasn't amazing. I would have liked to have had more choice in terms of gluten free and vegetarian options. Having said that, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Star because the quality of the food is very good.

Excellent !! Called in for evening meal after detouring to avoid M5 congestion on our way to St Ives . We shared the tapas which was more than enough. The quality of each dish was excellent , very quick and friendly services and good value . Some good beers too. Worth a visit .

Unbelievable! We have been meaning to try them for so long. So glad we finally managed to do it. Previously we booked a table with them, but driving to the wrong star inn as there are 4 in the area. So make sure to book and go to the right one. We chose this pub as there are many great walks nearby. One of which is called King Wood belonging to National Trust which 4 min drive from the pub as well as the other walks. The place is so dog friendly that they have a dog section of the pub you can sit with loads of dogs. Upon entry we were welcomed by friendly staff which brought water and treats to our dog. Service is efficient and fast. They are attentive and do not miss anything without being over bearing or intrusive. They have great selection of steaks, homemade pies, burger, fish and chips and duck. The menu ticks all the boxes. We has burger and duck. Both exceeded my expectations which are quite high. The Presentation of the food wAs also excellent with great detail to attention. The desert selection was amazing too. I couldn’t believe how smooth and amazing experience this had turned out to be for both us and the dog. We had a great day out. I think the nAmes of our servers were Jimmy and Dan. They were genuinely hospitable and liked their jobs and pub. Thank you

Have been going past The Star Inn for years, but never popped in. Recently we got a dog and were looking for dog friendly places to grab a bite for my birthday, saw the signs and dropped in. My wife and I were blown away with the wide open spaces to the rear of the property, and even more so when one of the fantastic team said we could walk our dog down there. The staff are fantastic, we were served by a young lady who literally couldn't have done more to make our visit fantastic, including fetching a dog friendly ice cream for our dog when we forgot to order at the bar. The food was lovely and really high quality, I cannot recommend it enough! Definitely try it out, especially if you have been driving past for years like me!!
