The short bouncer needs a reality check, seriously. My brother had fallen over on the way to this pub and split his eyebrow open. I was inside and was alerted to this so came out to help. Was told by the bouncer that I could not access a first aid kit as it did not happen inside the pub. Is this morally correct when someoneβs bleeding outside or just a show of power? If I was a business owner and someone refused this right to someone in need theyβd no longer be working for me, what if the bleeding was catastrophic? Got some water to clean up the cut, was in a glass and he refused to let me outside with him despite knowing what itβs intended for, that Iβm a trained first aider & also sober. I get it when itβs a drunk person with a pint but surely an exception can be made. Go back inside to swap out for a plastic cup which takes another unnecessary 5 minutes to get though the busy bar and actually get served. Eventually clean the cut and realise stitches are not required, just an antiseptic wipe and a plaster to scab the cut. After knowing this I flagged someone down who thankfully had a brain cell that worked there and he gave me the first aid kit and I dressed and treated the cut. It doesnβt cost anything to be a good person and help someone in need when you can clearly see they need it. Or at least make the person whoβs trying to help lifeβs easier instead of unnecessarily exerting your pathetic control over the entry to a pub. Just made the whole thing a lot harder than it needed to be.

Great Craic! Terrific Guiness in Dropkick Murphys. Very friendly bar, and they have longstanding return comedians who perform every year for the Fringe

From my experience its almost always crowded and full of people, but if you like to bounce and dance, to the live music its great place to go. I recommend it to you, only if its not problem for you to stick.to the sticky floor. ;)

I love the band and headed here for a drink and wanted to buy a dkm jersey. They were sold out of jerseys, and played top 40 dance music. I was hoping to hear some pub like songs like boys on the docks or rose tattoo. Staff were friendly, guiness was good.

Really good experience during the afternoon watching the six nations, but would definitely not recommend on a Saturday night. You pay Β£5 for entry and although the music is decent, it was overcrowded and felt like a frat house (not in a good way).

Dropkicks was recommended to me by friends and i popped in one night and it's now my go to pub in edinburgh! Always provides a fantastic night with great live music and their pub quiz on a sunday is not one to be missed ! A must if you come to edinburgh for the weekend.

Great proper Irish pub in a lovely building under the bridge. Atmosphere was great, with live music you could sing along to, and we made friends with virtually everyone we talked to. Drinks are reasonably priced for the area but certainly not cheap - certainly better than similar places on cowgate though!

Wonderful bar expertly hidden in Cowgate that has a great atmosphere, live music from Thursdays to Sundays and a karaoke night on Wednesdays. Whether you're going for a quick drink before a night out or having a full riot in an Irish pub, Dropkicks is the place to be

Went there on a Thursday night at around 11pm, was quieter than anticipated. Bar itself has a good atmosphere, very cool collection of jerseys and a curved ceiling. Open floor for dancing and live music. Drinks were priced as to be expected β Blue Moon on tap and a choice of lagers and ciders. Would visit again, but when it is a bit busier.
