Great atmosphere, great music. Absolutely divine Sunday Roast topside beef. Beautiful vegetables. The only thing that could be improved was the Yorkshire pudding size and texture. I wasn’t that hungry and they allowed me to have a kids meal as an adult. Decent beer selection. Good location right near the castle.
Coming here with my mate for a pint of beer after a long day at work. The atmosphere was really nice, and the way I’ve been served was efficient and really fast. My review has nothing to do with the service, but with the information they put in them Google maps profile as it say that on Friday and Saturday they close at 1:30 AM, which is also the reason why we choose this pub. As I told you we were a little bit late, I admit, around 20 past midnight and we take a pint which we even did not finish as at the end we where run to go out at 1 AM.
First time in the Black Bull last night, I love to try different Bourbon, and what a selection they have. Friendly bar staff and great music. My new local when in Scotland.
Lovely place to have a drink while in Edinburgh. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Would definitely suggest you go there if you’re in town. You will not be disappointed. Friendly staff & reasonably priced drinks
A great bar with friend or going solo. Staff are always happy to chat and the regulars are welcoming. Good drink selection on tap and a wide range of bottles and spirits. Can’t forget the jukebox!!
I have always liked this bar, I enjoy rock music and love the jukebox here. I had no change for the jukebox yesterday and it was in the last hour so the barman just opened it for us and gave us a bunch of credit which was really great of him.

This pub hidden on the corner of big street is a treasure ! The staff are amazing and very cool. Lots of beer to chose from and for the amazing price ! You have to go there. Forget about all this pricey pubs in old town. This is were you want to enjoy your time. Toilets are clean. Nice people coming here. You can play pool. They dont serve food but as the barman told me, you can try nice and not expensive food from near shops. This pub has a feel and music is great. Jewel in the heart of edinbourgh !
