Came here for a family birthday dinner and decided to bring the dog along. On arrival, we came in what we thought was the correct entrance, but were told in a slightly cheeky manner that dogs should come in through a different door. As first-time visitors, this wasn’t obvious and there was no clear signage, but we got seated shortly after. The place was absolutely jumping, which is always a good sign, although it did make it a bit difficult to hear each other with the combination of a busy room and loud music. Drinks were ordered quickly and arrived not long after. There was a slight wait to place our food order, but nothing major. When the food arrived, everything was spot on apart from one dish a steak that arrived with the sauce jug completely empty. How that made it out of the kitchen is anyone’s guess. That said, the food itself was hot, fresh, and really tasty, so no real complaints there. Overall, a great atmosphere and good food, with just a couple of minor hiccups. Would definitely return and next time, we’ll make sure to use the right door.

Lovely restaurant in the heart of Kilsyth, now with a new, decent value meal deal on weekdays. Good food at a good price. Best to reserve a table at popular times. Staff are polite, friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is also dog friendly and has a doggie menu.

Stopped here for lunch as i had seen it online and we wanted to try it, We were made to feel welcome the food was really nice, the premise is really smart inside it was quiet on saturday afternoon. A lovely traditional place with good food,my eggs benedict wasn't the best I've ever had but they done three different kinds which was a great option. But good quality, the flat white coffee was great with great coffee art.

The food was great however, I would not recommend this venue for a large group booking. We dined as a party of 13 and were asked to submit a pre-order a few days in advance which was completely reasonable given the size of our group. While I appreciated this level of organization, the overall service on the day was disappointing. There were long waits between courses, and used plates were left on the table for quite some time before being cleared. Despite having submitted our orders ahead of time, we ended up being there for over three and a half hours. I found myself repeatedly approaching the staff to request service, which I hate doing but needed to be done. It also appeared that only two or three staff members were managing both the bar and restaurant areas, which likely contributed to the delays. Given that our booking was made in advance, it would have been reasonable to expect adequate staffing for the size of our party. The seating arrangement was also not ideal, we were placed in a small back area, divided between two tables, one of which was positioned behind the other. This made conversation awkward and disjointed. The room itself became increasingly warm and uncomfortable, and unfortunately, the windows could not be opened which made the heat unbearable. That said, the food itself was great, and I would recommend this restaurant for smaller groups or couples. However, based on this experience, I would not suggest it for larger gatherings or celebrations.

The Scarecrow is a pleasant bar and grill offering a reasonable selection of good pub grub. It is roughly L-shaped with a raised area near the bar and a lower area past the kitchen. The lower area has two interesting pictures with history of Kilsyth and the pub itself. Part of the pub was once a bike shop which explains why there is a bike on one wall.  A nice touch was having a small dish of crackers with our drinks before ordering our food. We were all happy with our choices of Macaroni, Steak Pie, Fish n’ Chips and Chicken Tacos.  Service was warm and friendly.

The scarecrow is very well decorated and cozy. The staff were very kind and welcoming m. The food was a very good price for the quality. The service was very fast and large options of food and drinks. They had a very large selection on cakes, overall a very good experience.

It's a great little restaurant, with large windows looking onto the pedestrianised main street, food was lovely and you can pop through to the lounge for drinks after your meal. The restaurant is completely separate from the lounge bar, which is nice. reasonably priced food and set menus, the food is hand made, freshly prepared and the chips are heavenly .
