Refusing to accept that they've sold a faulty pair as the shoe’s padding and internal favric worn out within 20 days. I didnt have the receipt and they refused to look into the matter saying they can refuse bcz they believe its wear and tear, how come its in one shoe and the other is completely ok ? Pathetic customer service!

Sports Direct online - bought some trainers, they sent the wrong colour. They require customers to pay for the cost of returns (breaching Consumer Rights Act)& to print the label themselves (I don’t own a printer). Won’t be going to Sports Direct again

Most people know what sports direct is like, and this store is no exception. If you would like to get trainers from the shelves via checking sizes with the store room, good luck because staff will not help you. If you do intend to buy anything off the shelf it's mostly fine, but any interaction with staff is unfortunately met with frustration, a complete lack of respect and rudeness. Also be aware that they do not offer cash refunds, only credit notes (which I think is very shady anyway)

Sports Direct is the epitome of complete disinterest in achieving positive customer experience. You can't speak with stores, because telephone lines aren't answered. You can't check stock levels in store, because the website doesn't have this basic functionality. You can't collect anything next day, because Click & Collect orders take 3-7 days to arrive (maybe they're delivered by bicycle, from Thailand). You have to pay for Click & Collect orders to be delivered to the store !!! The proverbial cherry on the cake is you can't have a refund (say, because perhaps the item doesn't fit comfortably), because they only provide credit notes (which, in my book, is equivalent to theft). I now actively avoid this shonky retailer. It's just not worth the hassle.

Today I went to the store in St Albans to purchase some sportswear. I found what I wanted and went to the tills to pay. A staff member came over and seemed to be a bit annoyed and was huffing and puffing as he got to me. I don't complain normally but I was treated terribly by this person who gave his name as Ross. He forced all 3 items into the smallest carrier bag so they was bursting out of the top. I asked for a bigger or another bag and he said they had none and had a terrible attitude about it. I wasn't rude back although I wish now I was and told him if he hated the job that much then leave. I eventually got a second bag and he charged me another 20p even though it was the company's fault they didn't have a big enough bag for my purchases. I asked for the manager and he pointed to the front of the shop so I went and found her. I explained what had happened and she seemed to take it on board but I will never shop in that store again. I have worked in retail so know how customers should be treated and if Ross had worked for me he would have been sacked. If you read this Ross I suggest you consider a career where you don't deal with members of the public. You are rude and arrogant and should be ashamed of yourself the way you behaved today on behhalf of Sports Direct. I suggest if this is the training Sports Direct give to their staff then I'm sure this won't be the last complaint made about this store or Ross.

Working for sports direct is really rubbish in St Albans. Mangers are terrible especially the store manager Mitchel marshall and Eillot. They promise you no career progression. Also the way they speak to their staff they are very rude and dont listen to them. if you want to make money avoid working for them at all costs!!!! WORST COMPANY I WORKED FOR!!!! I was treated like a child. The managers stay on the phones all day especially Mitchel Marshall. Also they never have anything their. Always telling the customer it will come in stock but not sure when. Overall nothing popular comes.

Used loads of sports direct stores, just moved here and went in for new trainers. This is definitely the WORST store I've ever been in, service was non existent, stock was old and bland then when I bought a pair of trainers, the bloke put the old grubby shoe off display in the box without even telling me and put the new one from the box on their display. Boring, unhelpful, uninterested staff!

I went for the first time to the st albans branch, I was looking forward to a new sports direct but sadly it's all the reject stick form other stores it must be because it's so basic. Nike selection in clothes is almost none existent and most of the trainers of the same design are in a row to make it look like they have a lot of variety when it's the same with most rows just the same design. The customer service is non existent. I was in there twice and no one offered any help or smiled and there was a bland vibe about the whole shop.

Great to have Sports Direct in town, shame the staff (except chap on till) are so awful. My mum is hard of hearing, slightly slower to react, due to a recent TIA and because she reacted slower, was at the end of the comment & rolling eyes ….”Oh my days”….when she asked for a pop sock to try on some trainers. The response when she said “most shoe shops, shops that sell shoes have them”, was rudely replied with “We’re not a shoe shop!” Then, when we asked for the other trainer to the trainer my mum wanted, we were abruptly told “ you can’t try shoes on without a sock” no one was trying on a shoe, merely asking for the other one, so we could buy the pair. Awful experience and will probably go to any other sports shop to avoid this one. To some up our experience- get another job, if you hate retail

Finally a Sports Direct in St Albans town centre and it is in the Maltings... Thumbs up to them. A big new and tidy store with a bunch of nice & helpful staff in between H&M and Validate. As usual a good collection with reasonable price.
