Amazing and highly recommended for everything. - location perfect for visiting Edinburgh: by foot around 15 minutes to city center. - rooms big enough for a vacation and provided with everything you would need. - the staff is amazing, as well as the downstairs lounge. Can't say anything about the terrace as it was quite cold outside.

Super boutique hotel very close to Calton Hill ( amazing views). Fantastic breakfast but expensive. 10 minute walk to Princes Street. Hotel in a lovely quiet area, rooms very clean and cosy and staff were great.Would definitely stay again.

We have just returned back home from a 3-night long weekend here and honestly, this hotel gets it right on every level. It’s got that rare mix of personality and comfort, loads of art, loads of character and a proper boutique feel without trying too hard. Our room was spotless and comfortable, with a bed that actually lets you sleep properly. Everything felt well looked-after and the small touches made a difference, good toiletries, thoughtful details and a general sense that someone has taken pride in the place. The team were fantastic throughout the entire stay. Friendly, easy to talk to and genuinely helpful without ever being over the top. You feel looked after without feeling fussed over. Breakfast was excellent, generous portions, cooked well and a nice relaxed way to start the day. If you’re into your whisky, the lounge is worth a visit too; they clearly know what they’re talking about. A special mention to Peter, who was on duty when we got back in the evenings. He made the bar feel like our own little hideout, great drinks, great conversation and somehow the hours just disappeared. Top bloke and a real asset to the place Location is spot on. It’s a short walk to Calton Hill and close enough to wander into the city, but the street itself stays quiet enough for a proper night’s sleep. It’s an older building that’s all part of its charm. All in all, a brilliant stay. Zero complaints and definitely somewhere we would return to without hesitation.

Can’t beat this place. The whisky tasting was absolutely legendary and set a really high bar for our whole trip. Location is great with only a 5 minute walk to Calton hill. The staff is extremely friendly, accommodating, and personable. The facility is clean, neat, and in good condition. The food was very delicious. My wife loved the porridge and I thoroughly enjoyed my first full Scottish breakfast. We also had the eggs Benedict and they were top notch. It’s a historic building so no elevator. Street parking is available but you may need to park 5 minutes down the road in a parking structure depending on timing.

Words can’t describe how wonderful this artsy boutique style hotel is! Just returned home after spending five fabulous nights at this beautiful gem of a hotel. Nothing has been overlooked, from the decor, design, furnishings, artwork - and on top if it all, a lovely whisky tasting bar/lounge that was truly elegant. The staff was extremely attentive and made sure that everything was perfect for us from the moment we arrived until our departure (inclusive of booking taxis and making hotel reservations). Will definitely be booking another stay at 24 Royal Terrace if given the opportunity to visit Edinburgh again.

What a lovely place. Definitely one of the best hotel experiences I had so far. The building is very beautiful - both exterior and interior. The staff is very friendly, the breakfast is amazing, the Whiskey selection is superb, the bed was extremely comfortable and the location is also perfect. I’ll happily be back one day.

Very nice hotel worth its room rates, with impressive art work and original features throughout. Nice clean ensuite room (we stayed in no#5), which was relatively spacious and a good view from the front of the hotel. Comfy king size bed, free safe, with a nice Scottish and vegetarian breakfast, and other tasty options. Great location near to the main shopping centre of Edinburgh. All the staff were friendly and welcoming, offering good service all round... Nothing not to like, we would return.

I’d give this place 6 stars if I could! Comfortable room with all the amenities you could need (including a wifi speaker in the *clean* bathroom). The bed was soft and comfortable, felt like sleeping on a cloud. The place is close to the central area - about a 15 minute walk, but it’s a scenic and beautiful walk. The staff is friendly and the building is decorated really well. It has the coziness of someone’s living room but the aesthetics of a new art gallery. Highly recommend!

Wow! Wonderful experience. Dropped into the bar and had a wine and cheese experience with Arturo. So friendly, service above and beyond. Great artwork as extra point of interest. Thoroughly recommend drop in for a drink and cheese platter. Great whiskey experience as well. Dog friendly(thanks for the sausage).

Tiny rooms without air conditioning, the only window can only be opened a few centimeters. In this heat an impertinence. Unfortunately staff not helpful at all. A loud fan is all that comes to mind. In addition, another loud noise disturbs. Earplugs are provided (so the management seems to be aware of the problem) but hardly help. Sleep is almost impossible. I only stayed in this hotel because the city is totally booked. Otherwise I would have moved out long ago. Unfortunately the worst hotel experience in years. It's a shame, because the building and the location would actually have been good. I would have done without the elevator, but the rest doesn't work at all. Update: I switched hotels to get some sleep. At check-out no word of regret, no goodwill. The main thing is that I'm in a decent hotel now and can enjoy the city!
