   A breath of fresh air. I went into the Loake shop in Bath today and purchased some boots. Very knowledgeable and professional guys working here, really good service received. The guy measured my feet and recommended a size based on this. Got them out, put them on for me, checked they fit ok and that was it. Sorted. Made the purchase and he packaged them up, wrote out my receipt (love the traditional touch) and shook my hand afterwards. Such a refreshing change to have well mannered engaging staff who know their craft and take pride in their work. I left the shop feeling really pleased with my purchase and the overall experience. Amazing the difference to your day something like this can make, so much so that I decided to come on here and write a review for them. Got to support physical bricks and mortar shops nowadays! Highly recommended.

   I purchased two pairs of shoes for £249 each — one for myself and one for my brother. Before buying, I was assured that I could return the shoes if they did not fit him. When I returned one pair within 14 days, I was told that only a credit note could be issued, which was never mentioned at the time of purchase. I was also told that someone would call me within two days, as I made it clear I did not want a credit note. Despite visiting the store again, I’m still waiting for a call or refund. This has been ongoing since 24th August 2025. Extremely disappointed. This level of customer service is unacceptable.

   This is how the retail experience should be done. I wish all stores had this level of expertise and care for their customers as Joel did for me. The whole experience was second to none. I was looked after, educated on different shoes, care techniques and how to wear them in. The shoes i left with are for my brothers wedding and so I wanted something a bit more special and these haven't disappointed. They are incredibly smart, comfy (i'm still wearing them in) and if as much acre is taken in the shoe as in the store, i expect them to last a very long time.

   Very helpful and professional shop. Toby assisted me in choosing a quality pair of handmade shoes for work. I had an idea what I was looking for and tried on different sizes to get the best fit. A nice espresso ☕️ as I tried them on as well. Recommend this shoe shop to anyone when in Bath.

   Best shopping experience in ages! Went into the shop to look for some boots I'd seen in our home town. They weren't on display but an alternative colour was which I tried. Tom informed me that the colour I wanted was available in other shops and on sale. He then arranged to have a pair sent to my home address. Ended up buying two leather belts also! Great service and would thoroughly recommend a visit.

The team are amazing and every time I go in I am welcomed with the same positivity and openness.    One of the best shopping experiences I’ve had in recent memory. Tom and the team at Loake’s were absolutely delightful when I visited recently to purchase a pair of loafers. I wasn’t too sure if I’d make a purchase but Tom ensured I was measured up and found a pair that fit perfectly, and went out of his was to make me feel good about the purchase. We even had a lovely coffee and glass of bubbly while making some small chit chat about men’s shoes and how to dress well. The staff were some of the most knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate I’ve come across at any store ever. Truly a delightful experience — the kind of shopping experience you might imagine when thinking of “classically British men’s shoes”. I’ll be back when I next need a pair of shoes and I’m in Bath!

   Incredible service and awesome shoes. If you like a quality experience when you make a purchase this is the place to go: James and Tom instantly made me feel I was in the right place - I know exactly what I like and nothing was too much trouble. They answered every question for me in a manner that told me my satisfaction is as important to them as it is to me. I went in looking for only one pair of Loakes, finally settled on the Royal R in Oxblood leather, then found myself very happy to add a pair of Bedale boots in Tan calf leather. I have been wearing them for about a month now and I know I will be back soon for another pair. The Bath shop is over 40 miles from me but I won't be buying shoes anywhere else after this experience.
