Such a beautiful restaurant with amazing staff. The food was delicious, especially the venison which was wonderful. A special mention to our hostess Sarah she was incredible. This was the best meal we had in Edinburgh

Very dark yet warm atmosphere, service was brilliant with a wonderful waiter who provided great advice on the cocktails and desert. Manager also very helpful when deciding whether to have food or just cocktails. Very nice entrance. However seating provided was somewhat inadequate, it felt as though it was a table you would sit at when waiting for yours to be prepared. Steak was wonderful lamb rump also very good.

We were visiting from the US and were determined to find a great place for drinks and haggis. Never in my life would I have imagined I’d love their haggis so much that I wanted to go back the very next day! The blood pudding with scallops was also absurdly good and the smoked salmon was such a treat! Great cocktail selection and incredibly friendly and helpful staff ❀️

Couldn't have been better if we'd tried! What an absolute gem of a restaurant. The food. The foooooooood! It was *chef's kiss*. Literally. The serving staff were delightfully charming, and the atmosphere is simply perfect. I could see myself hiding down there on a cold winter's night. Do yourself a favour and get the haggis starter. You won't find better haggis anywhere, I can promise you that. It was just perfection. Slightly peppery, topped with a sauce of happiness. You can't go wrong. And the filet was divine. It comes with the best fried potato I've ever had. Full stop. Just get in here and enjoy. Oh and get the paloma. It's decadent but light and refreshing all at the same time.

Definitely a higher end meal. We went for Sunday roast and while delicious the portions were quite small and the price was considerable. This is the place to go for a more luxurious experience. The atmosphere is posh and proper, dignified and elegant. The food matches the atmosphere. Selecting a unique cocktail was a noteworthy highlight of the visit. Absolutely consider Monteiths if you’re in need of a romantic date night idea or celebrating a milestone.

We stumbled on this restaurant last week while looking for a nice place to eat in Edinburgh and it did not disappoint! We ordered some bread and herb butter as an appetizer and even though it seems simple, it's necessary. Drinks were the heather honey old fashioned and the Scottish aviation. Both drinks were delicious! For dinner, my husband had the venison and I had the salmon and both dishes were flavorful, hearty, and exactly what we needed after a long travel day. And don't skip out on dessert! We had the chocolate mousse and it was decadent without being too filling. Just perfection. Monteiths felt familiar even though this was our first time visiting and we loved it so much that we went back for a drink on our last night in Edinburgh. Don't miss out on traditional Scottish dishes with an elegant yet not pretentious twist!

Went in for small bites before a late show. The kitchen was closing but our server was able to get an order in for us. Everything was hot and our order was fast but not rushed. Thrice cooked chips, Welsh rarebit, steak tartare and haggis, with a 12 year highland park old fashioned

Amazing food at this restaurant! It was beautifully presented and fresh. Slight downfall was the service. The staff weren’t as knowledgeable as expected for this type/level of restaurant. They brought the set menu but we had to request the a la carte menu afterwards. They thought it was easier if we ordered from the Β£45 3-course menu. However, we wanted more choice. We ordered both red and white wine and the waiter said there was only one bottle of red left. But they subsequently brought another of the same bottle. When the bill came, we asked for the service charge (10%) to be taken off but the waiter said it was policy to be added. However when he checked, it was found to be discretionary. In the end we paid half the service charge as we felt that the service could have been better. Couldn’t fault the food though! Credit to the kitchen team!

We reserved a time for a late dinner on a Sunday night and it turned out great. The staff was great and offered good dinner selections. Food was excellent. Had the smoked duck and crispy bite for starters. With the honey old fashioned. We had the braised ox cheek and white fish for main course.

Had an exceptionally good dinner here. The food was amazing and the woman who served me was so lovely (I didn't catch your name sorry, but I'm the one that chatted your ear off about New Zealand!) not only did she tolerate my chatter because I was on my own, she was also manning the bar and restaurant on her own and doing an amazing job please give her a raise. The food and wine was superb! Wish I had time to go back!
