We came here for the Christmas menu the week prior to Christmas and it was a really relaxing experience. Perfect ambience and of course the building itself is quite breathtaking. From the lights outside which gather a lot of people taking photographs, the entrance, right thtough to the huge tree over the bar. We were in the grill room so had a gorgeous view of the tree and dome throughout our meal, truly a stunning experience. One that wasn't hindered at all by the fact I'm a wheelchair user. Door staff were very helpful and the lift outside was fine - A tad temperamental but we got there in the end (tip, make sure the gate on the lift is fully closed otherwise it won't move). The good itself was very good. The salmon starter was delicious, so was the liver parfait. Our Christmas dinner mains were enjoyable and a good portion for a fine dining experience. To finished we enjoyed a sticky toffee pudding to share which really was mouth wateringly good, soft, sweet and rich! Much bigger than expected too! Only thing that let down the meal for us was the bread - the bread with the liver parfait was incredibly hard and barely any present. And the side order of warm bread was very dry, nothing special flavour wise and cold, sadly. But on the whole a great experience, a must at Christmas and easily accessible in a manual wheelchair.

Went on a Thursday with no booking and, although there was an hour wait outside, the queue moved quicker than expected. Once inside, the atmosphere was Christmassy, warm, and festive. Service was excellent, and our waitress Cecile was fantastic - attentive, friendly, and checked in on us throughout. A lovely experience overall.

If you are looking for the Christmas experience then this is the place to dine. The wow factor from outside to inside is spectacular. Soon as you walk through the doors there's a Christmas smell in the air and the decorations are just on another level. We had afternoon tea and it didn't disappoint the food was great and the service was exceptional, polite and always on hand to help without being in your face. Visiting the Dome was the perfect way to end our trip before travelling home. If you love the Christmas vibes then there is nowhere better to go. Highly recommend but make sure to book well in advance for the Christmas period we booked ours back in August and just managed to get what we wanted. Overall a great experience that I would love to do again,it's a 5/5 for us.

The Dome offers a truly memorable dining experience, blending grandeur, atmosphere, and refined service in one iconic setting. From the moment you step inside, the buildingβs breathtaking architectureβtowering columns, glittering chandeliers, and its famous domed ceilingβcreates an immediate sense of occasion. The interior feels timeless, elegant, and carefully maintained, making it just as enjoyable to simply admire as it is to dine. The menu is well-crafted, featuring a balance of classic dishes and modern favourites, all presented with attention to detail. Portions are generous, flavours are thoughtfully paired, and the staff maintain a high standard of professionalism throughout. Whether visiting for lunch, dinner, or their popular afternoon tea, the experience feels polished and consistent. What truly stands out is the atmosphere: warm, inviting, and perfect for celebrations or a sophisticated evening out. The Dome delivers a blend of luxury and comfort that leaves a lasting impression.

We had booked this since August 2025 to visit the Dome at the end of November during the Christmas period. Noting all of December was already fully booked. The restaurant did not disappoint in any way. The surrounding and venue, the setting, the Christmas decor, and the architecture were fabulous. The food and presentation along with the service were excellent, and the atmosphere was great. All in all a perfect evening. I would highly recommend the Dome but book early.

Absolutely stunning and beautiful! The Christmas/Holiday decor was fabulous! Such a perfect place to celebrate the holiday season. Everything was wonderful. Staff was attentive and nice, food was great, ambiance was amazing! Definitely plan ahead and reserve, as we witnesses many sad and frustrated people being turned away without reservations. Will definitely be back if we visit Edinburgh again in the future.

This is a 5-star restaurant with a diverse menu serving well prepared and presented meals in a jaw dropping ambiance. A special shout-out to Sasha who provided excellent and professional service. The reason for 3-stars and not five is that we arrived on time for our reservation but was told to have a seat in the bar area while I our table was being cleared. We waited for 15 minutes. When we arrived in the Grill Room there were several tables for two that were set and ready to receive diners. It is not cool to lie to customers in order for them to spend money at the bar.

Absolutely brilliant afternoon tea!!! Gorgeous building and decor! Itβs very classy, cosy and relaxed in the Georgian Tea Room and the staff are really welcoming, but we were glad we reviewed afternoon tea etiquette on Google before coming. We dressed smart casual and felt comfortable in our choices. Definitely make an effort to dress nicely. Book a time slot before coming. Make sure to come hungry because you will leave absolutely stuffed! The tea and food are all lovely. This was such a wonderful experience! My husband and I both thoroughly enjoyed everything and highly recommend it!

What a beautiful place. Went for dinner on our last night in Edinburgh. The service was first class and the food was excellent. It looked to good to eat as the presentation was first class. A wonderful 2 hours spent in the evening. Rounded off our trip superbly. Would highly recommend a visit. It is reasonably priced. For a treat or special occasion it was worth every penny

We had the festive morning tea back in last December. Seated in the Club Room instead of the Grill Room (i.e. the main hall), still a nice and decent dining space. The tea set was good though I canβt refer anything in it as exceptional. The service was rather outstanding, resembling that performed in classic luxury hotels. I would give it a second try.
