We visited this café for breakfast on our first trip to Leith and unfortunately left disappointed. The service was slow from the start and our drinks were forgotten entirely. After watching people who arrived after us being served first, we had to ask where our drinks were. When my hot chocolate finally arrived it was only lukewarm. Our order wasn’t written down, which led to me receiving the wrong meal. As a result, I had to sit and wait while my mum ate hers. The quality of the food was also poor, the ingredients in the full Scottish were disappointing and my mum couldn’t eat some of it. My “sourdough” toast turned out to be plain brown bread and was barely toasted. Both breakfasts arrived on cold plates which may be the reason as to why some of the ingredients were cold on arriving also. The review is getting a 2 star not a 1 as the staff were friendly. The man who was serving did ask us what we found disappointing but there were a lot of customers and we didn’t want to embarrass the staff with our list of complaints. Overall, it wasn’t the welcoming first experience of Leith we were hoping for.

Popped in for brunch and found a real gem. Friendly staff greeted us and left us to decide on our breakfast choice. Food came in no time and was just perfect for a brunch, plentiful and hot. Proper coffee too. Lovely cosy and very clean place. Thank you Clock Cafe!

Simple but yummy breakfast of oatmeal with sautéed bananas. I eat a lot of oatmeal at home and have added all sorts of things to it, but never bananas. Now I will! Was super delicious and the staff was very friendly! A big coffee was an added plus!

This lovely cafe by the Shore is definitely a hidden gem. From the outside, I wouldn’t know this charming building is a restaurant/cafe. We had breakfast here couple weeks ago when visited Edinburgh. As soon as we walked into the door, staffs welcomed us with warm smiles. We got seated promptly. My waitress was very sweet and attentive. I liked that you can choose anything in the menu, it doesn’t have to be breakfast items. We got the avocado toasts with both choices of egg and smoked salmon and a small bread with sausage. For drinks, we got the hot chocolate, iced coffee latte and banana/strawberry smoothie. Overall, I was satisfied with my orders and service here.

We chose this place for breakfast after noticing their sign “Dogs welcome, humans tolerated”. We were all made very welcome but our dog was looked after best of all… bowl of water on arrival and personally fed a tasty sausage by the chef. Our breakfast was absolutely delicious… a variant of eggs Benedict with haggis.

Went for breakfast with friends. Able to cater for 6. Sat together, staff friendly and helpful. We could chose anything off the menu didn't have to be breakfast. Obliging to change dishes to suit tastes. I had the bagel with salmon cream cheese and smashed avocado, delish. Bagel was fresh and soft, avocado had a hint of heat. All other meals went down well. Highly recommend

Ordered the full Scottish and shakshouka for brunch. Really good dishes, well executed except for the spice level in shakshouka - WAAYYY too spicey. Other than that, definitely recommend this place, service is really good!
