   Popped into the Hop Pole on a walk down the Avon. I’d driven past over the years enviously looking at everyone out front enjoying a drink, but this was my first opportunity to visit myself. So glad we did. It is a basic pub, with some real character but what sets it apart was the welcome and really friendly service. It’s clear the owners are trying hard to build a warm, social place for people to come. We lucked out with a new chef starting and Sunday roasts back in the menu. The food was excellent, great value and just what we wanted. Heart portion of roast beef and loads of veg. I suspect this will get even better as the team get back into the swing of great food again. I’d thoroughly recommend a visit for a good pint or great food, simply served but full of flavour and quality.

   Visiting Bath and very glad we came across this pub, first on Saturday and the place was buzzing (in part to a private function). Great selection of beers, food was lovely (fish & chips, carbonara). Came back again on the Sunday for the football, was quiet but great to watch the game. Favourite in Bath, will be back!

   Great local pub close to Victoria Park and serving the Lower Weston neighbourhood and those who venture just outside the usual tourist spots. You’ll be well rewarded if you do - Mark and his team are so welcoming, great beers on tap plus a lovely garden, board games, good tunes and a rolling calendar of quizzes, music and events. We didn’t eat there but will next time!

   Went there and had the ribeye steak, which was a very decent price for Ribeye. The pub serves South African fusion, which isn't what you'd expect from a pub, but after trying the food I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was, and the chefs clear passion for his craft. The potatoes were incredibly crispy and well seasoned, and the steak itself was nicely done, with the accompaniment sauce pairing well. I feel as though this place deserves more credit, but I can understand how it's not a menu you'd expect when visiting, and it might not be the venue you'd look for when looking for the menu it does have, but I would recommend to anyone giving it a shot if you're a fan of south African cuisine. Only thing which I would say is the kids menu feels incredibly lackluster given its location next to Victoria park.

   I always enjoy arriving at this pub, especially after cycling down the Bristol to bath cycle path. It’s an excellent spot for families and friends. It always has a nice atmosphere which is why I always look forward to coming back.

   A beautiful little Pub directly opposite Victoria Park, with a lovely beer garden backing onto the River Avon. Great selection of local beers, immaculately clean, with a welcoming and friendly staff. What more could you ask for? Also, a great stop for cyclist.

   We came in for dinner with our two daughters. From the off I could tell it wasn't going to be our usual good experience! The waitress stood sipping her drink casually whilst we waited by the door to be seated. She couldn't be any less interested in being there from her service and attitude. There was zero customer service! Then came the food...the pork belly was disgusting, we ordered chicken gougons for one of our girls, it came out as a chicken fillet covered in cajun seasoning which is not how its described on the menu - looked like the chef had cooked it earlier so served that instead!! The kids pizza baguette was terrible. Overall a bad experience - definitely won't be going back or recommending you. And to top it off the waitresses outfit didn't leave a lot to the imagination. Total waste of money

   Its a quirky sort of place, all stripped pine floors and an assortment of furniture. It meanders into hallways, and separated cozy area's to a little garden at the rear. Its Bath ales pub,well St Austell really. The beer is good and well kept. The food not adventurous, but well presented...its a good pub for families, and just opposite Victoria parks, play area..

   Great place to relax after a walk round Bath Mushroom and hallumi burger was lovely, partner had the beef burger and he said that it was lovely. We will both return before we head home. Staff were friendly and helpful.
