Such delicious food. The bread and butter certainly lives up to its reputation and the service, especially from our amazing waiter Toby, was superb. He was incredibly attentive and friendly, making the whole evening perfect. It might have been better to have a slightly darker and more candle lit space, to accompany the evening.

Let’s jump straight in with this review for β€œThe Elder” We will begin with the food, and then the service. We were first provided the famous bread and hunters tea. I must say the bread and butter were fantastic. Fresh and homemade. The hunters tea component was odd, tasting like a beef stock. One is meant to dip one’s bread into it. This was a nice gimmick, but after a few mouthfuls I decided to just stick to the butter. Onto the starter where I had the cheese tart. It was a nice creamy little thing. No complaints! For my main I had the venison haunch. Meat was beautiful and so was the accompany potato and spinach. The bone marrow however was not to my liking. Very salty. Thankfully this did not detract from the main event. The dessert was stunning and probably my favourite course. It was so good I forgot the name of it. It had coffee icecream in it that was to die for. Finally, onto the service, which was a fail. The waiter asked one of my accompanying guests which port of two choices he would like, but forgot to inform us that one option was out of stock (so why give us the option in the first place). Additionally are bill was calculated incorrectly, with only the drinks being billed.

Had the most amazing dining experience in The Elder enjoying a 7 course tasting menu accompanied with wine pairing. Vineesh was our server and explained each dish as he presented it to us alongside the wine. Each and every dish was very well presented and the flavours were just mouth watering. The ambience was perfect in the restaurant with subtle lighting and quirky decor. Will definitely return for this memorable dining experience.

We had booked well in advance for the tasting menu only to be told on arrival that there was a new set menu in place. Some sort of contact would have been nice to let us know of this. However the new menu looked good , so we stayed. The food overall was very well presented and well cooked and enjoyable. We felt that the atmosphere in the small room was not very comfortable, the background music didn't suit the occasion and the waiter could have been a bit more efficient and smarter (baggy jeans! also ask how we would like our lamb cooked). For the type of restaurant that this aspires to be, we expected a little more. Would we recommend? Probably not.

We took my parents to the Elder for a very belated Christmas present and it was a fantastic evening in so many ways: some of the best food we’ve ever had combined with very attentive but relaxed service with a smile. We thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish and felt very well looked after. Every course felt like a treat. We look forward to returning sometime soon.

The Elder in Bath is a true culinary delight, A place where the ambiance is just right, The food is exquisite, a real work of art, And the service is impeccable, from the start. My recommendation is to get the tasting menu in full, Each dish is a masterpiece, an edible jewel, Explore the wine list, you need some good fuel, And by the time you read the menu, you'll start to drool. The location is prime, with a vibe that's sublime, And as you look at the walls, you might spot a serious bull sign, It's a place to indulge, to savor every bite, And you might even think, this is worth a Parliament invite. So don't hesitate, just make a reservation, The Elder is a true destination, Where food, service, and location blend in harmony, A culinary experience, worth every penny.

Had a lovely meal at Elder this evening. Enjoyed the six course tasting menu which gives you an opportunity to try more of the menu than the a la carte (although smaller portions of each dish). Service was really friendly throughout and provided good explanations of all the dishes. The restaurant is pretty interesting as it has lots of smaller rooms (due to the historic building). We found it a nice atmosphere all round.

The service was great, accommodating and atmosphere was good but the food was disappointing. Been to many high end restaurants with Michelin stars around the world. I do not mind paying for good food but the food quality/combinations did not reflect the price of the meal. Limited wine selection. Bought pizza after the 7 course meal.

An amazing game based restaurant! They offer both a tasting menu and a la carte. The service is just amazing and the food is quite special and unique for the area. The venison portion was tasty, and served with the most amazing fresh peas. The old fashioned was one of the best ones I had and the wine recommendations were spot on.

Bath have rarely new and standing-out restaurants since it already had a lot to offer not just for a fancy night but for street foods or desserts etc, The elder just opened around last year and surprisingly it skipped our attentions for a whole year before we finally visited it tonight. The service is top notch, and it is trying to keep distance from served tables during the pandemic (hopefully soon to be epidemic). The drink menu is a variety of choices, and tasting menu is attractive if you are keen having a big meal. We had the venison for the reason heard they got a park raising the deer and sourced ingredients from beginning to the the table. The meat is well cooked (as we asked) but not dry at all, actually still stay the juicy bits. The apple slice is a natural sweetener and give some inspiration for me to cook in the future. The starter (bream and eel) had fresh taste. The atmosphere is so nice that provides a place for a wild taste. Attentions from the servant is also a bonus. The decor is vivid and carefully designed. Price-wise, it’s for a special night, but definitely worthy every penny.
