Enjoyed a drink with my girlfriend after we walked around the botanical gardens and The Great Dell.

Waited about an hour for food. Ordered chicken shawarma which came in a cold wrap rather than flatbread. I ate about half of it before I could not eat any more. It had a really foul taste and smell. I would've been less concerned if it had been a different kind of meat like goat, but chicken definitely shouldn't smell like that. The people I was with also smelt it and agreed. I worked up the courage to address it and ask for a discount. When my husband went up to pay he mentioned the discount, the person taking the payment seemed to know what he was talking about. My husband didnt want to make a fuss, but we did the maths afterwards and there certainly wasn't a discount and there was a service charge. We paid 44.99 for a 16 pound meal, 18 pound meal (the shawarma), a glass of orange juice, a neck oil (less than 4 pounds). Definitely no discount there.

Staying in the Holiday Inn Express for work, we wanted a walk into town for dinner. The weather was not on our side, so we decided after reading some reviews to head here. Sadly, we were pretty disappointed. For local 'pub food' it was ok, but the prices did not reflect the product. The aesthetics however were nice, the ambience was cosy and we initially felt pleased with our choice to come in. My colleague ordered a pie, which was advertised as having seasonal vegetables and mash. The pie arrived swimming in half a bowl of red cabbage, which was nice enough, but not in that quantity and certainly not seasonal veg- and outweighed both the pie and mash together. When queried, we were told we must have been looking at the Sunday menu (we were given the menu on a clipboard). I ordered the ham, egg and chips after a friendly chat with our server over what she would choose, and again was slightly disappointed due to the small amount of thinly sliced ham. However, the eggs were good and runny, and the chips were crispy and moreish, and the best part of the dish. We then decided to order the desert of the week, which was apple and blackberry crumble. Sadly, the crumble had been put together rather than cooked as a whole it seemed as the crumble was crispy on the top, but missing that lovely chew underneath that comes from cooking with the filling. It also had the exact same spicing as the red cabbage, which meant my colleague did not enjoy it after eating essentially a bowl full of the same flavour. The filling was exceptionally sharp as well, so we left most of it. We advised our server of this when we had to go and find her to get the bill, where we were charged 10% for the service. I'm not a fan of a service charge being imposed- yes, I'm sure you could ask for it being removed, but in my view it's done that way because we'd rather pay then have the awkwardness. Overall, a main, soft drink and crumble, cost £31 each, which is what I'd expect from a good restaurant, not a small pub, and for disappointing food. Would I recommend it? No. I'd recommend another 5 minutes walk, heading towards the centre.

A fantastic find very close to Bath centre but far away enough... I love this place, it had the local feel with a welcome that was unassuming. The beer we had was Stone Daisy, very tasty and well worth the £4.95 let’s face it it’s in the city so not bad! Food was very good and the price was very reasonable, surprisingly (and I compare pubs) fish and chips £16 in comparison to 18 - 20 so see the comparison. I had the Tagliatelle (chicken) fantastic and exactly what you would expect, the wifee, pie and raved about the mash , turns out it’s all home made so very happy £34 ish for food which we looked at the desert but will have to return. The important bits are Staff really friendly and on the ball. Dog friendly, perfect! Pub was spotless and looked great. On the whole I would recommend a fantastic find. Revisit last night, we all enjoyed the food and drinks, desert was the best thank you!

Booked in for a Sunday roast. Quality of the food was superb. We both went for the turkey and it was very tender and juicy. Nice selection of vegetables and the roast potatoes were perfect. Cosy chilled out atmosphere and very helpful and friendly staff. One of the best roast dinners we have eaten for a long time. Will definitely call again if we're back in Bath for the weekend!
