We had the Sunday roast, it was quite expensive. The beef was lovely but the roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings weren't nice. And they don't do pigs in blankets.

My wife and I stayed there for a couple of nights. Was pleasantly surprised to find that our room had been upgraded. The room was spacious, tastefully decorated and cosy. It was December and the room was comfortably warm- we had control of the heating which is always a plus. There were a couple of snags, the hairdryer didn't work and no water coming out of the shower. However, the staff were friendly and efficient and these issues were quickly dealt with. The pub itself was cosy with a log fire and comfortable seating. We ate there on the second night. It was a typical pub menu though slightly more limited than most. The food was OK. There is dedicated car parking for guest and although our room was adjacent a main road there was very little traffic noise. The pub is a short stroll from the main part of town so we found the location very convenient. A pleasant spot to spend a short break in the cotswolds.

We loved our stay at TROT. The staff were friendly and the room was very spacious / had everything we needed. Food at the pub was tasty too. My only suggestion to other guests is to be mindful of any events being held at the pub as it was a bit noisy one evening.

Came here for dinner. The welcome and the service throughout was superb. The food was nice, although potentially quite pricey given the size and the fact we weren't in London. Still tasty though

We had a Sunday roast here which was good overall–great service and lovely staff. However the roast potatoes weren’t very roasted and the cauliflower cheese wasn’t very cheesy or golden on top. The rest of the roast was otherwise lovely, especially the nut roast and Yorkshires.

Lovely pub and will always come here for a drink, but in my opinion it has gone dramatically downhill. Quality of food now distinctly average, service poor with the majority of staff moping about in shorts. Manager should lead by example but is exceptionally rude for what was a large booking.

Lovely staff seated us in a cosy upstairs dining room which has been sensitively renovated. The bar downstairs is small and busy so if you're eating, definitely go up Menu was mostly pub classics but with a few nice additions. Everything was spot on.

We had a lovely stay at the Royal Oak in October. We had the Garden Room and the Acorn House booked for the night before our wedding with me as the Groom and my Best Men in the Garden Room. The Garden Room was ideal for what we needed, big enough for 3 adults with the addition of the sofa bed and just off from the beer garden. My wife and her family stayed in Acorn House which is just over the road from the pub was a beautiful country house with its own parking. Pictures on the website don't do it justice! Very clean, plenty of space and dog friendly (in the kitchen and dining area only). Had 1 twin room and 3 doubles, including the master bedroom on the top floor which was huge with an ensuite. We also had a meal booked for the same night for all 9 of us which was delicious, and the cocktails were also great with fantastic service and friendly staff. Thanks for a great stay!

Party of 4 adults and 2 dogs, visiting early afternoon. Sunny day, nice garden and only a few of the ample tables occupied. We sat and one of our party went indoors to see about menus. She was asked whether we'd booked (no, as walk-ins), she was then met with a rather abrupt "oh, well we prefer you book, but I'll ask the chef." Chef is overheard as saying "not likely, but check again in 5 mins" Confusing message which left us feeling our custom wasn't wanted, so we left for another pub in the area. Clearly booking advisable unless you want to be seen as an annoyance.
