In one of the private rooms for a 14 person event. Room was perfect, it was a Christmas meal and felt super cosy and tucked away from the rest of the pub. Decor was nice. Staff couldn’t have been more attentive. Reasonable price for the food and drink we had. Very likely to return next year! Thank you.

The staff were amazing. We were a big table but everything came out perfectly and great timing. The two girls serving were friendly and helpful and took drink orders at the table which worked out great. The Turkey dinner was really nice but beef dinner wasn’t so good. Over-all great experience though, thank you :)

We had a private party in the upstairs room for Christmas. Might go back again next year, it was that good! The team were fab to deal with leading up the event - answering question and dealing with queries promptly. The buffet food was delicious and there was plenty of it. Having the darts was a great activity to do and really worked for our group. Previously we’ve liked having a private bar but that wasn’t an issue as the staff were able to take our drinks orders and sort that for us. Definitely recommend this venue.

A Sunday Roast can be nice, enjoyable or GREAT! And guess what? That was exactly what I experienced at The Whitmore Tap op Sunday 28 September, 2025. Well-humoured because of the fine weather and a long walk from Ashton Court Estate, the staff welcomed me and led me to a table at the windows. Some Padrón peppers and a pint of Tall Tales for starters, a (beef) roast and another pint as main course, and an affogato and cookies to finish a delightful time at The Whitmore Tap. Quality you can afford, as you’d get a discount as a Butcombe Loyalty Club member. Warmly recommended!

Had the beef roast here Sunday and it was immense! Good value too with the Butcombe loyalty card As usual for a Butcombe pub, good selection of beers and they have big screens for the football too.

Cracking pub, service is very friendly and welcoming. Shows the sport, had a great atmosphere when I went in there. Have good beers on tap, and the prices are decent for the area it's in. Decor has a modern pub look to it. It's well maintained and is a few minutes away from Clifton train station.

Excellent real ale pub. Been in here when it was Penny Farthing and it's much much better now. 4 x Butcombe beers on plus full choice of their craft keg lines. Had two halves both were very good. Staff on the day very friendly (duty manager was over from Cirencester). Don't think they do food, it's a drinkers pub.

Very poor Sunday roast lunch today ( 23/10/22). Can't seriously call itself a gastropub. At nearly £18 & £20 for a roast pork & roast beef dish, it was a disappointing offering. Hardly any gravy, tepid & tasteless. The roast potatoes were definitely not roasted. Asked for more gravy & apple sauce. Took another 5 min for watery offering of a gravy to arrive & but had run out of apple sauce!! Waitress did ask how the meal was upon clearing our plates & I had to be honest even though I didn't want to make a fuss in front of my guests. Not sure she was that bothered but hope these comments go back to the kitchen. Avoid : spend Yr hard earned cash elsewhere.

Great staff, always has such a lovely atmosphere, the Sunday roasts are SPOT ON! Beautiful pub with some great events upstairs, the open mic nights are free and worth venturing out to. The comedy club is always great fun and silly.... and the quiz is the best.. Definitely worth booking a table for the quiz for a laugh on a Tuesday night.
