Very rude racist staff and expensive! I ordered a glass of wine for Β£17!!!! While event didnt recieve a proper customer service! Our table even was not cleaned after few times asking! It was my friends birthday and they even refused to give us a knife the cake! It wasnt enough though! Without any prior information for seating time limit, after 20 min they asked us to leave as they were preparing for the dinner service! When we asked the manager, the cashier introduced himself as the manager and rudly not even apologised but also said OK go leave the review while the femal staff was keeping watching us in such a was to leave the pub!!!! Its shameful! BETTER TO CLOSE YOUR PLACE!!!

Disgusting customer service, I'd give zero if I could.Absolutely unacceptable experience. We asked THREE TIMES for the glasses that were taken from our table, and every single time we were ignored. Not forgotten β€” ignored. It was clear the staff simply didn’t care. When we finally asked to speak to the manager, it somehow got even worse. No apology. No concern. No attempt to fix the situation. Just cold, dismissive behavior, as if we were a problem instead of paying customers. This was supposed to be a birthday celebration, and instead we were treated like garbage. The way we were spoken to and dismissed was rude, disrespectful, and embarrassing. I have never felt so unwelcome in a restaurant. No family should go here. No group should go here. If you expect basic manners, professionalism, or even a simple apology when something goes wrong, avoid this place entirely. They clearly do not value customers or care about the experience they provide. I will never return, and I will make sure others know how poorly we were treated.

I visited the Castle Inn in Castle Combe to celebrate my 40th birthday. We only went for drinks and brought a small birthday cake. After blowing out the candle, we politely asked for a knife to cut the cake, clearly explaining that we did not want plates, were not planning to eat it there, and fully understood their policy about outside food. Despite this, the staff refused to give us a knife. About five minutes later, a waitress came to our table and asked us to leave because they β€œneeded the table,” even though we had never been told there was a time limit or that the table was reserved. The way this was handled felt racist and extremely disrespectful. The waitress walked past our table giving us looks and attitude that made us feel unwelcome. I have lived in the UK for years and have never felt like a foreigner before, but sadly, I did during this visit. Our table was also left full of empty glasses from before we sat down. I asked twice for it to be cleared and was ignored. When we later explained our frustration, the waitress said she would never apologise for what had happened. What should have been a special birthday celebration turned into a very uncomfortable and disappointing experience.

Pleasant pub with friendly service and well-cooked food, but nothing that stood out. Portions and presentation were fine, flavors competent but unmemorable. Good for a casual pint and a solid meal, but if I return to Castle Combe I’d try somewhere different for a more memorable dining experience.

We had a lovely two-night stay at the Castle Inn. The room was lovely, warm, and spacious with good quality towels, linen and amenities. The village itself is quintessentially British, and even in the rain very beautiful. Although the evening meal in the restaurant was good, it wasn't anything above the ordinary - I found it to be a little overpriced for what it was and the alcoholic drinks were extortionate (even compared to London prices). Having said that, the staff were fantastic - friendly, attentive and welcoming. The breakfast (that was included in our stay) was one of the best I've ever had - high quality ingredients, enough to fill you up for the entire day, very very good! Overall, a great little hotel which we felt was good value, especially for the area. Thank you for a great stay.

This village is a tourist hot spot and this restaurant is certainly top notch. Both the food and the service was of very high quality here. Though a bit pricey, it is absolutely worth every penny if fine dining is your thing. The beer on tap was also superb. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who visits the area.

We only ate at the restaurants. The food was amazing! The vegetarian options were interesting flavorful creative and healthy! Thank you! My friend had the venison and found it delicious. The Carmel tart was a nice ending to our meal.

We stopped in for a bite to eat while visiting Castle Combe, and have to say we had a fantastic time! The staff were really friendly, and so helpful. We were able to share a portion of fish and chips, which was delicious. The dessert was absolutely amazing too. Lovely atmosphere, would definitely return.

Castle Combe is a stunningly beautiful Costwold village and The Castle Inn a perfect country Inn. Great food and really lovely staff in a fantastic building. Because it's an old building, the rooms are compact and quite basic, but well looked after. Provided you know what to expect and aren't looking for a palatial modern hotel suite, they are great. Our only wish is that the menu varied from lunch to dinner as the menu is, rightly, quite small and made choosing something else for dinner, after a big celebratory lunch quite tough. Breakfast was excellent. Definitely a shout out to the staff in the bar/restaurant, who were all really friendly and all round brilliant!
