   I booked a room for me and my partner while I was in Newport for a conference. The location was convenient and close to the conference centre, but everything else was really disappointing. When we arrived at 8 pm, we were given a room that hadn’t been cleaned after the last guest — it was in an unacceptable state (see attached photos). We then had to wait about an hour for the front-desk staff member to clean it himself. He was kind and did his best, but we never received an apology from any manager or other staff member. The next morning we had to ask again for housekeeping to properly clean the room, which shouldn’t have been necessary. Apart from the one man at reception who helped us, staff were generally unfriendly and unhelpful. The room itself was very basic. The only positive was the attached pub — the food there was nice. Unfortunately, the overall experience was extremely disappointing. We even contacted Booking.com to request a refund for one night, but none was offered as goodwill. Definitely would not stay again.

   This was a brilliant place to stay, very close to ICC. All staff were super helpful and friendly, the room was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. Had food in pub attached, varied menu and superb value - 2 main meals for £12.99!! Drinks reasonable too, Aperol Spritz £5.99 (which is the cheapest I've seen as usually around £9)! Would definitely stay again as couldn't fault it, everything worked out really well :-)

   Super friendly hotel. Good food, good service and nice rooms. Quiet location set back from the road with plenty of parking. Peaceful setting backing onto green fields. Ultra convenient for the ICC. Our second three night stay for an anual event at the ICC, and we are likely to come back next year.

   The restaurant is in an awful state of disrepair, ripped booth sofas cannot possibly be kept clean. The service is horrendous, all staff seem to be over worked and underpaid and hence let their stress be the only thing visible on their faces. The wait for food was over an hour, so our 3 young children were beyond hungry and just did not understand, making out experience just stressful from beginning to end. And all for frozen food to be blasted in a microwave. The quality is shocking. It's no wonder this is a dying chain, we will NEVER return and neither will anyone in our social circle nor family.

   Pretty mediocre food. My mixed grill tasted like it had been cooked earlier and then warmed up. The steak was cold, the chicken was sweaty and the sausage was mushy. Would not recommend.
