Good location, super clean. 4 bed rooms a bit too small. Overall excellent value for the money!

We hired it as a group. Good kitchen facilities, comfy beds, good-sized lounge. Near enough to the village and gorge to walk to.

Nice staff, and we are group of 8. Clean and tidy room. Very hot water! We all need that after all day hiking. We had 2 nights dinner here and enjoyed the breakfast very much with a good selection of englsih breakfast and fruits/yoghurt/ cornflakes/ bakery/ fruits. Perfect to start the day. Very child friendly and the lounge with good space for board game and evening chill. There is parking just at the doorstep.

The rooms were really clean and tidy. Me and two friends shared room Not a bad space at all, we had the continental breakfast of the morning which was good quality. Staff friendly It is located in a really nice place not at all far to walk to the gorge Or into town. Car parking space in the hostel was good but at times could be tight if a lot of guests. The turning into the hostel is narrow but if lined up correctly you can get through no problem Overall it was a good stay Good value.

What a great place! Really good value for a weekend away as a family. Staff were friendly, flexible and thoughtful. The cooked breakfast was delicious (my kids were over the moon with the extra sausages :). We had a private en-suite family room, with one of the bunk beds having a double bed at the bottom, which made things really comfy. The self-catering kitchen was well-maintained and kept clean with all the utensils you would need. Lots of board games to play, with spaces to sit as a family in the evening and spend some analogue time together. And fantastic walks in the Mendips close by too. Access was down a narrow lane, which we missed the first time we drove by (sat nav took us to the next road along), but easy enough after that. Car park available, and a little contained back garden, a safe space for the kids to let off some steam. We will be back.

Great place to stay. We hired both buildings for 5 days. It's in a great location, close to shops and some amazing walks with beautiful sights. Highly recommend walking around the reservoir and walking to the top of the gorge. Kitchen was well stocked and able to cook for 22 people comfortably.

I stayed here Tuesday night and would definitely stay here again. Accommodation is so close to Cheddar village centre and the caves, brilliant location. I stayed in a private room with shared showering/ toilet facilities, everything, including kitchen, was spotlessly clean and showers were really hot and good pressure. Staff were super lovely and gave good local recommdations. Can't fault! On site parking.

Nice lovely staff and big rooms. Ideally located to the cheddar gorges and caves. Good selection of food and drinks. Michael Broxbourne

I was very unimpressed with this hostel (and I’ve stated in quite a few over the years). It provided the absolute bare minimum, which could be forgiven if it weren’t for the fact that it wasn’t actually very cheap, and some basic things just weren’t up to scratch. 1) The modest-sized room had only a few bunk beds and one tiny side table. No reading lights or place to store your luggage, as the website promised; no wifi. The two of us paid Β£80 for a room intended for 5 (this was the only room left). It was far too small and sparse for the price. 2) The duvets and pillows were made from cheap synthetic material, such that they made you unbearably hot. Removing the duvet left you too cold. I actually opted not to use the pillow for some of the night as it made me so hot. We both had a terrible night sleep and felt pretty dreadful the next day. 3) The showers were very odd. There were only a few for the whole floor, and they were located in some small cupboards. The water flow was more of a jet, and the water turned cold part way through my friend’s shower. 4) The communal areas in the hostel had a very sad, unloved feel. A bare minimum of furniture scattered around a large room and poor lighting made the lounge quite unwelcoming. 5) The breakfast is advertised as unlimited, but it didn’t seem that way; we were served a plate of food with no offer to get any more. Of the continental breakfast offerings, the pain au chocolat was stale and only one pot of yoghurt was left. We had to go to reception to find sugar for tea/coffee. No napkins were provided. For Β£10/person, it wasn’t good enough. 6) Β£2 to hire a towel. No shower gel in the showers. I mean seriously, these can’t be that expensive to provide – they’re essential items for any overnight stay, so should be included. Especially given it’s not really that cheap. The place gets one star as the lady who checked us in was very friendly. The other staff seemed nice enough, but not the most helpful. One more star as the hostel was clean.

Lovely warm welcome from the lady on reception when we arrived. Hostel is immaculately clean & the kitchen well equipped with everything we needed. Our room was downstairs facing the car park so we didn't have a view but more than adequate for what we needed. Very comfy bed & excellent shower. Great location for walking & town amenities. I
