   We have visited the Royal Oak on numerous occasions for breakfast , lunch and dinner over the years , having lost my dad who was a kirby resident around a month ago we also paid and held his wake there aswell. All of which were fantastic experiences and the food was first class. So naturally when we were deciding on where to eat for a family meal on christmas eve we had no quarms about selecting the Royal Oak as our choice. Unfortunately this turned out to be quite possibly the most horrendous experience. We arrived at 3.30 for a meal booked for 15 , we had pre ordered all of our food which was fine and understandable. As we walked in it was nothing more than a rowdy pub , again understandable as it was xmas eve. However our table was banged straight through the middle of the restaurant which ended up close to the deli and entrance. As we took our seats we were approached by a waitress who questioned our pre ordered food adamant that someone had ordered a starter but we hadnt even ordered the starter she was questioning. When we had no answer for her she was incredibly rude and snapped at us. We asked if we could order drinks from the table we were told not really and youd have to go to the bar. This meant people at our table were constantly leaving the table and having to queue at the bar for ages to get drinks. The starters came and they were fine , but when the mains came there was one missing and the kids burger we ordered was burnt to a crisp as well as the bun it was barely edidle. The xmas dinner the majority ordered was presented nicely but was awful. The yorkshire pudding was a frozen yorkie , brussels sprouts rock hard x2 , parsnip rock hard x1, roast potatoes cold and hard x3. Like i said one meal was missing so the guest was patient but after ten mins when people in our party had almost finished he approached the till and was met with a barage of abuse resulting in a member of staff asking him if he wanted his food or not ? Poor customer service , a free drink could had been offered or even an apology but nothing just snappy staff. I called a waitress over in the end as there were parties of 10 , 4 , 6 coming in for xmas drinks and with nowhere for them to sit in the bar they just stood in groups around our table , staring at our food , bumping into chairs and even someone holding a baby inches away from one of our parties head whilst he was eating. Females then queued for the toilet next to our table. This was nothing more than an overcrowded venue which 100% exceeded capacity which would be a real issue in the unfortunate event of a fire. The Royal oak need to learn from this are they a pub , a restaurant or a deli ? As imo you cannot be all 3 especially on a day like xmas eve. Segregation between the bar and restaurant is a must and you cannot have crowds congregating around people eating. At no point did a manager come over and apologise and take the time to listen to our concerns. It was left to the poor waitress to deal with it all who was excellent ,and we tipped her accordingly. As someone who runs a business a manager coming over and listening and offering us a discount and possibly a voucher for a meal in the future would have been a good resolution. The Royal Oaks answer was to say to us if we leave now there would be no charge other than the deposit wed paid. Thats a poor resolution imo , we accepted but never didnt want to pay anything , we just wanted to enjoy a meal as a family at a time of year that brings back bad memories as its the anniversary of my wifes mothers passing 6 years ago. In addition there was a group of lads singing football songs outside and exscuses like we are really busy today from the waitress. All in all a terrible experience hence the 1 star rating , the owners have an opportunity to rectify this by contacting me as its normally a 5 star place for me. Its clear that xmas time is about nothing more than money and that quality service and food goes out the window for transactions at the till. Very poor

   Went for a family lunch today. A really nice place to visit. Friendly and efficient service. We had 2 Sea Bass and a Fish and Chips, nicely cooked and presented. I highly recommend the coffee, really really good! They have an excellent deli too where you can buy all sorts of savoury and sweet goodies, great cheese selection.

   We had a going away party for a coworker and we couldn’t have picked a better place. The ambience was lovely and the staff pleasant as well. Our food was a little delayed but that was totally understandable as it was a busy day. Everyone had positive things to say about their meal. All in all stellar experience.

   We had a family gathering at The Royal Oak yesterday. The food was delicious, freshly prepared and good sized portions. The staff were really lovely, and dog friendly. Our puppy enjoyed herself too!

   I regularly visit the deli usually taking home more than I had planned to! This time we ate in on a Monday lunchtime. We chose the ploughman's sharing platter and a bowl of chips. When it arrived we realised we didn't really need the chips - but they were THE BEST chips. Everything on the platter delicious, as expected. Had to have a'doggy bag'! The staff are wonderful and have time for you although extremely busy.

   Food was great and not too bad a price. I had steak, cooked as I'd asked. No issues at all and I will definitely go again. Also, very important, the deli counter! Amazing! Hugs selection of all sorts. I had samosa (beautiful,) scotch egg (,not bad) and a cake the was devine. 4.5 stars for me.

   The pub has been refitted since I last visited and it's now got a deli counter and a coffee shop. It's got a really nice atmosphere, it's a nice place in the village to meet up with friends for a coffee. I didn't eat there but the menu for lunches and dinners looked nice, it looked like pub grub. The menu used to be better in my opinion but I'm sure this new menu will appeal to more people. I will consider eating there, either lunch or dinner.

   Very helpful staff, friendly atmosphere, gluten-free options. The gluten-free full English breakfast was delicious and the prices are reasonable. I'm absolutely positive I'll go there again.

   Excellent food and service. Good parking on site (you must enter your car reg no. on a screen at the bar). There's an area to eat and watch the world go by at the front and a garden area at the back.
