Very disappointing first experience back at the Conway. Booked for Christmas Eve dinner at 6pm and when we turned up on time we were told the kitchen was closing so we had to immediately make our dinner choices. We both ordered the burger without time to review the specials board. Burgers were burnt and chewy and chips undercooked. Not the Christmas Eve meal we had hoped for!

I am so so sorry but you really shouldn't be handing out menu flyers for Christmas lunch in November without telling people that, when they book a table for Christmas lunch, they also have to specifically request and pre-order the Christmas menu beforehand. Really didn't say it on the website or booking system either. Sorry. Had no way of knowing.

Won't be back again. Booked for Sunday lunch at 12pm, completely unaware they only allocated our table for 90 minutes. Didn't even have a starter and was served our main at 12.40pm. Then asked what our dessert order was at 1.25pm, while also being told they needed the table for 1.30pm for their next booking, so didn't bother even ordering. The service was poor as took a long time to get our meal and they forgot our side dish, not very friendly and then made to feel we were overstaying our welcome if we did order dessert. The one course we did have was just okay, not really worth the wait. Will be booking Thomas' restaurant down the road as per usual instead - may be more expensive but great food and a lovely experience.

The Conwy has recently been taken over, it is still set out as a lovely little family restaurant. Prices are pretty standard, staff very attentive and friendly, well presented, food really tasty and fresh veg used, lovely atmosphere. Lovely Sunday lunch. I will be going again when next in Cardiff, you should give it a try, I don't think you will be disappointed.

Four of us visited in March and 12 of us in April, for lunch and a couple of pints. Service and food were excellent on both occasions. Really good pub food, exceptionally friendly staff and a casual, warm feel to the place. The recent re-opening, refurbishment and the cheerful, obliging new manager make the Conway a great community pub. Thank you! We all enjoyed and are planning a return trip.

Even with the Wales game on TV in the bar the restaurant area was lovely. Pleasant staff were there when you wanted them without bothering you every few minutes. Fish cookery excellent, wine list good and not, by today's priced unreasonable.

Decent service and normally really good gastro pub food. If you want a table at the weekend you will certainly need to book. Bar area can feel a bit "locals only" but do not be put off. Range of beers seems somewhat limited versus before lockdown.

Really delicious Christmas dinner every element was beautifully cooked, with very good gravy and generous serving of vegetables which were extremely tasty. I had cheesecake for dessert which was also delicious. Service was friendly and attentive. Love the Conway and will be back soon!

Great place! Friendly and kind staff. Great food quality. We felt very comfortable eating inside. There are some tables outside too. We had the chorizo scotch egg(with roasted garlic alioli), fish and chips and focaccia BLT. Not expensive at all. Highly recommendable!

Went there for our second time today. This really is a really great place. We've gone for the ham hock both times and it is to die for, couldn't recommend it more. We managed to fit in desert after the server told us what was especial good and it was a perfect end to lunch. Parking can be a little difficult but we've managed to find some spaces down the road by the wine shop both times. It shouldn't be too much of a problem. Just keep an eye out for parking permit spaces and make sure you're not in one.
