What a lovely view of the Calder Valley and the room and bathroom were very clean plus there was a fridge which many places don't have but....... that's it. The bar and restaurant are out of bounds so bring some food. It doesn't make it any easier when there is nothing else around for miles so I found myself feeling a bit like a prisoner. The Fleece in is a few miles away and much better. The reason why I booked The New Hobbit was because the rooms at The Fleece were booked. I won't be staying at The New Hobbit again. Sorry.

A little gem. A former hotel thus is now a self service/online facility which is ideal for visiting the area. Room was spotless and very comfortably furnished. Bathroom was very modern and spacious with lovely little touches throughout. Great value with a good sized car park and a small outdoor picnic space with stunning views of the dales.

Lovely little place with plenty of rooms of a great standard. The staff are very welcoming and responsive and will always do everything they can to help, should you need anything. It is situated at a height and the roads leading to it are narrow and steep, to most people that is not an issue but my poor little, old car did struggle to get up the hills. The views are more than worth it though, overlooking the beautiful countryside and on a clear night, with stars visible it's a beautiful and very relaxing location.

Stayed here in the summer and will definitely return! Room was small, but we knew this when we chose the room, and we were out from breakfast till after dinner, so this was not an issue for us. Room and en suite were immaculate and breakfast had great variety and quality produce. Had dinner in the restaurant one evening and food was lovely....didn't find it expensive at all, as service was friendly and efficient, and, as with breakfast, high quality produce. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Stayed here for one night whilst visiting family. We had 2 rooms and both the rooms were lovely. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The bar had a good selection of drinks, and the breakfast was just right. Would happily stay again

Booked at very short notice when we decided to break the journey to a funeral. Small but fashionably furnished room with a lovely view from the balcony. Ensuite very new and modern. Immaculately clean everywhere. Excellent breakfast and lovely staff. Good parking, but narrow and steep road up to it.

We arrive Saturday evening, only an overnight stay for an anniversary bash in the town, we were welcomed quite warmly. The hotel is situated on the top of an hillside offering great views over the valley. The rooms were excellent and very clean. Our only disappointment was the lack of heating at this time of year, but it wasn't terrible cold so I didn't make an issue of it the next day as the buffet breakfast made up for that. Would I stay here again yes of course and would highly recommend to all even people I get on with.

We were recommended this hotel as we were at a wedding close by. The hotel bar and reception area was lovely and the staff were very helpful, they even managed to let us check in early which was perfect before the wedding. Unfortunately the room was a little small and getting round the bed past a desk and chair was difficult. This said we were only there one night so it was OK, would maybe be a bit more unpleasant if it was a longer stay.
