Our recent experience at this practice was deeply upsetting. When we arrived for our appointment, the receptionist loudly announced the reason for our visit in front of a full waiting room. Considering we were there to have our critically ill dog put to sleep, this lack of discretion and empathy was shocking and completely unacceptable. At a time when we were already heartbroken, the receptionist’s behaviour added unnecessary distress and showed a total disregard for basic compassion and privacy. No one should be treated this way, especially in such a sensitive and emotionally devastating moment. I sincerely hope the management takes this seriously and addresses the conduct of their front-of-house staff. Clients deserve dignity, respect, and sensitivity—particularly during end-of-life care. Also with the vet was ignorent to the fact why our boys leg was shaking due to nerve issue when trying to put in a canula. Insensitive and no genuine compassion once our boy had passed as we felt rushed out and never had a canula called a catheter. Thus vets has really gone down hill since being taken over and gone are the days of feeling that they genuinely care for your pets. You are now just a number and a way of making money. We are so upset over this latest experience and this should not have been the case when we were going through such a difficult time.

I was 10 mins late for an appointment due to ridiculous traffic. I ended up giving up part way through and walked 5 minutes to get to my appointment only to be told I couldnt be seen because i was 10 mins late. To put things in context i've had a lot of vet appointments this year between my 3 cats, I've turned up on time but never been seen on time, often waiting 20 to 40 mins. On one occasion i've even had a wasted visit because the vet failed to provide information prior to my cat needing bloods. Time which i've taken off work and had to make up. When i needed abit of understanding on this one occasion it wasnt there. Zero concern for their impact on clients and care of animals. Clients are expected to be understanding when emergencies occur, technical failures or if appointments over run generally but vets fail to extend the same courtesy to clients. Our time is valuable too! Its not good enough. Poor service.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I can’t thank Stanley House enough for how amazing they were last night. I wasn’t even registered with them, but when my dog needed to be seen as an emergency they took us in straight away and were so professional, caring and compassionate from start to finish. They treated my girl so gently and made a really stressful situation so much easier. Everything was explained clearly, and she was seen quickly and thoroughly. I’m so grateful for how prompt and kind everyone was — especially Chloe and Leanne ( I hope I got the names correct, apologies if not). I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for a practice that truly cares about both pets and owners.

Met with Vet Rory who was one of the best vets I have seen in a long while. Took time to listen, was lovely with my 12 year old dog, Elvis, didn't recommend any unnecessary procedures, talked me through my options and gave advice on each one. I didn't feel rushed (even though they were busy) and came away feeling much hopeful for my older animal getting what he needs

You wouldn't wish them on your worst enemy! Not good enough. Their record keeping is poor and they missed diagnosis post operation that resulted in a horrific death for our pet vomiting bile up the high street (trying to take her back in a third time), despite me bringing her back in the two week post op period being told "she was perfectly fine" although I had been concerned about her appetite and developing a nasty cough. This developed upon coming round after a minor eye operation and clearly a reaction to the anaesthetic or damage it may have caused to her throat bringing on sepsis. If only I had got a second opinion elsewhere! She was a 7 year old dog and should have had many years ahead of her. The reason I am writing this review is we have tried to see them since for another pet 2.5 years later and they want to charge us an emergency pet registration fee for another animal and claimed we haven't been registered with them since we had a rabbit many years ago. We have called and registered foster animals since then but never needed to use the service. We also never owned a rabbit but my family did at another address. Despite this, they wouldn't use alternative address claiming a family address with more recent visits wasn't acceptable because it wasn't our name so the rule seems to work only for them and not for you in terms of addresses. They sent a card after we lost our dog at the time but seemingly have no record of her existing now! Dealing with them is honestly utterly heartbreaking and traumatic and we need other vets in the area so there are better options for better care and less chance to be ripped off. Please do yourself a favour and try other clinics first!

Ben Croft could not have done more or been kinder when our precious dog was diagnosed with cancer. He quickly arranged a referral to a specialist vet and helped in sorting out the medication when there was confusion between the specialist and us. The reception staff were also very helpful and efficient. Would definitely recommend.

Another positive experience for our boy who visited for a day-op. We were kept informed throughout the process and it was clear upon collection that he was well cared for and fussed. The op went well and everything is as it should be. Tried and tested vets, would recommend

Efficient and friendly staff and supportive and kind when I needed them most. Helped us care for our beautiful put poorly beagle (inoperable tumour) and when she took Ill in the night their 24 hour on call service was fantastic- sadly it was necessary to have her put to sleep - so glad they were there to help us at the end. Have used Stanley House Vets for over 25 years for my pony, 2 cats and 2 dogs (All sadly now gone) but would always recommend their animal services. Thank You
