Gave birth 6 months ago and never got round to writing a review until now. I can’t fault my experience at Mendip/Southmead. I had 2 midwives (1 being a student) and they were exceptional, always by my side. I went in at around 9 and they stayed with me until their shift ended at 7am. Took no breaks. They realised babies heart rate was dropping so intervened very quickly and took me to CDS. Afterwards we had a lovely room where my partner was able to stay and rest with me after birth. We were then left on our own to take everything in but had a call button if we needed anything. They were very quick at responding. Security is also great at mendip as you have to be signed out by the midwife (to ensure the baby is yours) Thank you all at Mendip x

This review is specifically about the central delivery suite side of Mendip. The quality of care during and shortly after birth is actually quite good, just pray to any deity that you believe in you don't have any issues that require any level of aftercare. Wait times of 6hrs to be seen appear to be the norm, even when they have asked you to come in for a checkup. Rude reception staff who's response to you asking "do we have a time frame on how long we might be here?" is "we have lots of other patients and are busy so you'll just have to deal with it and wait" all while 4 of them sit in the office and chinwag.

£4 per (poor quality) picture of my baby plus ridiculous parking fees. Works out cheaper going for a private scan.

Our experience: Room - they are spacious and multi optional which includes a wide bed fully automatic, double mattress on the ground, a large birthing bath, and another large/wide chair which I don't know the name but something you would expect to find in a gynecologist, and finally a bunch more various birthing equipment - all of which are available to you to choose. Staff - very friendly, professional, polite and helpful. Medical care & Midwife - Experienced, empathetic, kind, pationate, patient, knowledgeable, and with very high level of aptitude. Equipment - all in ecxcet working order, as new, clean and very reliable Hygiene - I'm picky and I wasn't able to fault anything, literally everything was in tip top condition. SoP - some may find this comment unrelated, however it is actually very relevant to us, and they followed their processes and checklist thoroughly. Overall was a wonderful experience.

Despite Cummings being able drive across the country for an eye test, I'm still being denied the chance to see my baby for the first time.
