If you don't have kids you won't have a good experience here. Membership only changing rooms that are 18+ frequently filled with poorly behaved kids and their parents who encourage them. Staff seem unsurprised by this and while they seemingly may attempt to prevent this, I've found myself being screamed at, gawked at, or completely stressed out by multiple unmonitored or poorly monitored kids that already have a full run of almost the entire centre, so the one place they aren't allowed ends up no longer being a safe haven from children screaming or misbehaving as kids do PureGym is just up the road, and for much less a month you can look out windows onto greenery while working out with confidence that you can have a good experience, use good equipment, protect your peace and get changed without a teenager loitering in the locker rooms pretending to be looking for absolutely nothing for 20 minutes so he can gawk at you getting changed. Staff always polite for the most part, so this isn't an issue with their friendliness, as they're all quite lovely and understandably working in a centre overrun with families is going to effectively cater to positive experiences predominantly for family members and the warts and all of anywhere filled with adolescents.

I go to Putney Leisure Centre regularly for the gym, swimming, steam room, and sauna, and honestly, it’s excellent value for money for a full membership. The classes are great — there’s a really good variety and the instructors are capable and enthusiastic. The gym is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need, the pool is a good size, and both the sauna and steam room are solid and well maintained. The staff are awesome — always friendly and helpful — and the atmosphere is welcoming. It’s great for all ages and has a really nice, friendly mix of people. Overall, I’d highly recommend it.

Staff are constantly rude, minus one or two who are lovely. The lanky ginger “personal trainer” who works there is constantly throwing weights on the floor very loudly, despite this being against the rules, and gloating about his “powerlifting success” he throws them so loudly that it disturbs me doing my workout 2 floors below him with sound proof headphones on full volume. He’s also constantly talking badly about the customers and their form right in front of them when he thinks they can’t hear, but has never offered to help with anything in the 3 years I’ve been here. When I see he’s there I generally want to get my workout done as soon as possible and leave. The staff try to pick a fight with you over the smallest thing (clothing you’re wearing?? timing getting out, stretching in the upstairs area) but are never seen cleaning machines, being helpful, or doing any work in general. One of them told me to “walk faster” when I was trying to leave at 22.25. There’s also only 3 showers to use after a gym session in the whole gym! So you’re constantly waiting for one to be available, they’re also always dirty and full of flies and if you’re really unlucky cockroaches too. Honestly only stay at this one for the car park Edit: I quit and joined anytime fitness upper Richmond Road, it is superior in every way, brilliant staff, huge variety of machines, always clean. No regrets

Great facility 360 degrees. It keeps on improving over the years. The gym and the pool are well maintained and the staff is well trained, helpful and very friendly. I wanted to mention Jerome at the front desk, his customer service is top! Thank you all for the excellent service provided.

A staff member told a couple of people to vacate this table because she needed to use it, which I thought was rather rude. Think she may have asked them if they were members or if they are signing up for a membership. They answered no so had to vacate the seat. You guys should have your own table for membership signups, etc or maybe have a sign on it if you don’t want people to sit there. It’s not cool to tell people to move. Common courtesy.

I absolutely love Putney Leisure Centre. I recently switched from Pure Gym and am so much happier here. While the equipment is a little old and the changing rooms need some renovation, there is a lovely community feel. Great for triathlon training too - clean pool and good bikes overlooking the pool. Only downside is some of the front desk staff. One or two women are pretty unpleasant - always a downer to see them. They never say hello to customers first, seems like we are interrupting them. I would recommend some more training on customer service and etiquette - even if they have been there for a while, there is no excuse. All the other guys at the desk are friendly.

Mainly using the gym. Good selection of machines and weights. Some equipment is quite old but who cares. Changing rooms & showers are OK. Building is old and it shows it but again no big deal. In terms of how crowded things are: Evenings 8pm and later are fine. No queues for machines. Went a few time in the afternoon 4 to 7 and it’s ultra busy. All machines / treadmills / benches in use, need to be very flexible in terms of substituting exercises. Weekends are fine crowd wise but The short hours on Saturday are a bummer. Affordable.

I only use this facilities to take my kids to swimming lessons and wait at the stands and cafe area. Even so, I have to give a good rating for the security and variety this leisure center presents to its members and I have always been well received even though O am not a member. Cant talk about the classes or services they provide but wouldnt mind trying them if the chance arrises.

The staff are kind and helpful but the pool and the changing rooms are derelict; the worst is that each time I have been there, I found hair floating in the water and getting entangled in my fingers. Very unpleasant. Why cannot the management introduce a rule for everyone to wear a swimming cap? Many pools around the world have it as obligatory. No cap no swim.

It's great for the price. I only use the pool and it's super easy to check what's happening in the pool before you go. There's free parking which you need to validate inside. Sauna and steam room are included in your membership, but don't forget to ask for a band at reception. The staff are always super helpful too.
