Really nice if you are looking for a calm spot to relax or go for a little walk

This is part of a longerwalk I do from the Kings Oak at High Beech. There are various routes you can take, I do about 5 miles each time. It is beautiful up there!

Very limited parking which gets busy easily. Pay via Ringo app. VERY poor signage about needing to pay for parking -only visible on one sign as soon as you drive in and hard to see when the sun is shining and can only be seen from one direction. No facilities. Icecream van often there.

A 15-20 minute walk away from Chingford Station, Connaught Water is a lovely place to spend an hour or two and it's free. The lake is always a cool place being in the forest with wafting willows and breezy bull rushes with water birds, swans, geese, moor hens, mallard ducks etc. I take all my out of town guests as well as local friends to experience it. Take a picnic and as a plus there's often an ice cream van in the car park. If you're driving don't forget to pay for the parking...in advance....I'm sure the parking attendant hides in the bushes.

Nor free parking. Very tight entrance with dangerous alligator spikes . View of lake. Approach road heavily logged. 1.50 per hr via ringo

I've been going here for 20 years ,used to go to chill out & for a bit of reflection on life. Very relaxing ,you have to walk all the way around as there is a lovely elevated decking area at the bottom. I now go with my kids to feed the birds, we collect some mixed wild bird seed from the pet shop ,the geese are very friendly. The kids love putting on their wellies and splashing in the shallows. Then weather permitting we grab an ice cream.

Beautiful, peaceful and surrounded by trees and plants. Great for picnics, strolls and wanders, with plenty of quiet spots to be away from everyone else, if you prefer. The area is well maintained and clean. The car park is small and can get busy but it's right near the pond and is suitable for those with limited mobility. There are also a couple of designated disabled parking bays.
