I’ve not been here for at least 10 years! We came for some late breakfast and I was pleasantly surprised how good it was and great value for money! I would definitely come back!
We had a great trip here for my husband's birthday with our friends. The food was great value and the staff were really friendly and hospitable. We really appreciated them allowing us to bring a birthday cake and providing us with forks, knives and plates to cut and eat the cake from. Thanks so much!!
Sam was lovely, checked up on us to make sure everything was okay and all around a lovely woman. The atmosphere was nice and cozy. Would definitely come again and would recommend a friend or loved one.
Big shout out to Katie for her outstandng work she goed above and beyond especially for our family! Makes us feel comfortable to come here especially when a family member has serious allergies weve got to be so careful we will always come here just for katie and her brillant service. We went as a family of 12 to celebrate my Dad’s birthday and the whole experience was absolutely dreadful. What should have been a special and memorable occasion was completely ruined. We were told there would be a 30 minute wait for food, which seemed fair enough, but in reality we waited 1 hour and 30 minutes before anything arrived. When meals finally came, they were incomplete and the quality was shocking. • The children’s macaroni cheese was lukewarm, chewy in places, and missing the vegetable sticks advertised on the menu. • A steak was overcooked and missing items. • Yorkshire puddings and parsnips were burn making them inedible, the gravy was congealed, and worst of all, a hair was found in one of the pies. • Meals were served at different times, so half the table had to sit waiting while the others ate. When we complained, the manager told us that the chef had called in sick and that she was cooking instead, despite being seven months pregnant and “not supposed to be in the kitchen.” While I sympathise with her situation, we should have been told this before ordering. We would have chosen to leave and celebrate elsewhere, instead of watching my dad’s birthday be completely ruined. Yes, we did receive a refund, but that doesn’t undo the embarrassment, stress, and upset caused. One of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had, and I would not recommend this place to anyone, especially not for a special occasion.
Awful food, everyone’s plate was brought out at different times, steak was brought out within the first 2 minutes of ordering it and majority was pure fat!! Wouldn’t recommend
I tell you what folks. If you like a fish and chip meal, you'd be absolutely mental NOT to go to the plainsman. It's absolutely fantastic. And you won't believe how inexpensive it is. Don't sit there reading this, get your shoes on and go. You really won't be sorry.
Met here for a meeting. Service was really good and, despite being busy, wait times were also good. Staff were cheerful and chatty and attentative. No disruptions, which is also a good sign. Nice and tidy and warm too.
We ate here Christmas Day 2022. Waited 15 minutes at the bar for drinks. It's getting worse the staff appeared to be stressed out because they are few in number, 1 person behind the bar is not adequate to serve 15-20 individuals needing driks (no table service), Waited 30 minutes for our starters to arrive. Bearing in mind everyone would have made a pre-order, I so not see why there would be a long delay other than due to the lack of staff in the kitchen and front of house. One desert was still frozen rock solid. Had to as for a replacement. Waiter spilt one of our drinks. It was replaced. Customers we're the most important after the product being supplied, if this procedure is adhered too the profit will come and everyone will be happy including the staff who do the serving. Disappointed as it was a special day and we wanted to spend quality time together stress-free as a family. I won't be going back even though I loved the starter and main course they served.
We came yesterday after never been before and Lisa greeted us on arrival and from the minute we arrived to the minute we left she was amazing and so polite and welcoming . The food was lovely , I had the all day brunch and it was incredible. Will definitely come back again soon and please pass on my comments to Lisa Many thanks Matt
