This was our first trip to Ireland and our stay at the Old Schoolhouse Inn was our first of 3 B & Bs while there. Terry & Avril set the standard that while nice in their own ways, they left us saying..."This isn't Terry & Avril's." & "We'll definitely go back to stay at the Old Schoolhouse." Situated in a nice quiet area of the Northern Ireland countryside they're just a short drive outside of downtown Belfast (30 min or so, depending on traffic & time of day) making it quick and easy to explore the city's offerings - like the Titanic Museum, Black Cap tours and of course many other offerings. Rooms are spacious and quiet, perfect for couples wanting to get away or for a homebase for their explorations. Interestingly, all of the rooms are named after past U.S. Presidents. The traditional Irish breakfast every morning was a great way to fuel up for our full days - everything was perfect. Avril's homemade bread(s) and jams, the fruit (including blackberries from their own hedges) were sweet and delicious. Hands down the best bacon I had the entire trip too(!)...I miss this breakfast already. :( If you're wondering if you should stay here - without question, you should. You might find yourself a cheaper stay, you might even find a "nicer" stay, but you won't find a BETTER stay than with Terry & Avril at The Old Schoolhouse inn! We cannot wait to get back here to stay during our next visit to Ireland.

What a quaint and lovely location. It truly is a converted old school with rooms. The rooms were clean and well kept and the overall location was very quiet and picturesque. The breakfast they offer is top notch and all the staff were wonderful. It was the perfect stop and would do it again in a heartbeat if my travels take me back out that way. Thank you!

I chose to stay here vs. a Premier Inn & I was so pleased I did!! Such lovely hosts, Avril & Terry. So friendly & welcoming. Granted the Inn is slightly dated but I like that, why does everything have to be so modern? It's beautifully quirky & my bed had its own postcode. So comfortable! Well needed after a long day travelling & working. The small touches of the alcohol fridge in the shared sitting room was lovely, along with the small extra touches such as a generous amount of teabags/sugar & milk in the room. Views are also beautiful. Such a lovely quiet, relaxing location. Would love to see it in the summer! The only down side was the power of the shower but that's not a major issue for me.

Hosts Avril and Terry were lovely but the property is very tired and really dated. You would think your in a residential nursing home. Bed not very comfortable... Had a sore back next day... We both did. Breakfast was fantastic couldn't fault it. If your wanting a luxury stay this isnt for you. Very basic B&B but I have to say the hosts couldn't do more. Just my opinion.

It is a beautiful quite and peaceful place approximately 3 miles from Comber. Hosts are so welcoming and so friendly. It is much easier with own transport. Taxis are available but require booking to about an hour in advance. I recommend The Old Schoolhouse Inn.

Lovely location not too far from Belfast set in very peaceful surroundings. Beautiful room, very well decorated. Terri served a delicious breakfast. Dinner in the nearby Poachers pocket is a must plus a visit to the monastic site a short drive away.on Strangford Lough.
