Pleasant stay but not sure it lives up to the universally rave reviews. Positives were exceptional views/location, relaxing living room, lots of drinking water available and decent food onsite plus solid local recommendations on their website. Downsides were some rooms are extremely small (except for room 6), with some non functioning windows and somewhat out of date bathrooms; no shampoo/conditioner (not sure what all the excitement for Malin & Goetz products is about - it’s just a soap/shower gel bottle (which you have to bring from sink to shower and vice versa, depending on use) and a moisturiser bottle - would rather locally made refillables including a shampoo bottle); and ‘extras’ being quite expensive (eg any form of cooked breakfast). We enjoy staying at small family owned hotels/bnbs/restaurants with rooms and it’s great to see so many relatively new ones in the market like this one, but we found better value and warmer service at other ones.

A beautifully curated seaside retreat combining a superb restaurant with exquisite rooms nestled in Devon’s Hope Cove. Sit on the terrace with a drink and enjoy stunning views of the coastline. House Hope Cove offers a bespoke menu of local produce and delicious breakfasts, the perfect addition to a comforting nights sleep in the beautifully designed and sunny bedrooms. Fresh sweet peas and a welcome letter greet you as you enter your room. Owners Olly and Ra ensure you have a special and rewarding stay at their sophisticated beach house. A totally magical experience.

We visited Hope Cove House for lunch today on a recommendation and drove 40 minutes out of our way to get there — totally worth the detour. We started with the scallops and they were honestly some of the best we’ve ever had. I had the sardines which were super fresh and full of flavour, and my wife had the leek & parmesan ravioli which was so good we nearly ordered another portion. Everything was spot on — relaxed vibe, great service, and food that really delivers. Would go back in a heartbeat.

My wife and I recently stayed at Hope Cove House with our newborn. Ra and Ollie couldn’t have made us feel more welcome, the staff are fantastic, equalled by the amazing food & wine. A beautiful setting, highly recommend.

Where to begin ?! We booked a one night stay, and to be perfectly Frank it wasn’t enough. Truly the attention to detail, the excellent food, and the warm welcome that awaits, will leave you wanting more. At dinner, the children got restless and were presented with a box of toy dinosaurs to occupy them …..lovely touch thank you :) The family room is perfect, in lieu of televisions there are a plethora of books (Beatrix Potter, Oliver Jeffers, And lots of others). After a few bed time stories, the children fell asleep to the sound of waves in the cove below the house. We are already checking our diaries, to see when we can return.

I was taken there for 2 nights on a belated birthday treat. It is a relaxed atmosphere with a splendid collection of vinyl and basically all the books that you ever fancied buying but never got around to. I could have spent a month there with no difficulty....oh and it's on the beach as well.

Superb front of house, cheery, helpful, understanding, efficient. Super modern but homely airy decor. Well-served drinks in attractive glasses. Love the menu and good unadulterated food using good fresh ingredients. Red mullet snd pencil thin chips and aiōli, chicory salad with Gorgonzola and pecans both very good. Buttermilk panna cotta wobbling perfectly! We’ll definitely go again.

Before changing hands, we loved coming here for a light sandwich lunch. Unfortunately, it's only a full lunch menu now, so we have to settle for a morning coffee. Still a beautiful place to sit and look at the beach though!

A wonderful place, situated with stunning views over Hope Cove. We popped in and out for coffee during the day (we were staying nearby) and booked for dinner. The hotel is beautifully decorated...simple, light and airy with lots of nice books and magazines to settle in with a coffee or (and?) a drink and soak up the views. Friendly staff and a really homely feel. Then dinner - what a treat. Delicious food, more than generous portions (I have hollow legs!) and excellent wine. A real find - we will be back.
