Pelyn vets have been absolutely amazing with our dog 'Buddy' over the years. Everyone in the team are so lovely and looked after Buddy with kindness. The receptionists and Jenny Beard were great making sure our appointments were suited to us and they listened to our wishes of what was best for Buddy. Then we met vet 'Dean Barry' who saved Buddy's eye but best of all he was so amazing with Buddy, treating Buddy like one of his own dogs. Sadly Buddy became really poorly and had to be put to sleep last week. Dean was again amazing with Buddy and showed him the dignity and respect he so deserved. Thank-you Dean. Buddy was 14 years old and had a great life. He was an amazing dog, very loyal and a great companion and will be missed so much. Highly recommend Pelyn vets.

Recently had to let my beautiful dog go. Dean who dealt with his last few visits was brilliant with him and thoughtful throughout out. His knowledge of a dog who has lost his sight had no boundaries. Pip has always been great with Dave in his many visits for skin problems. Every one we saw in between were just as good. On his last visit to Lostwithiel branch Dean was thoughtful and caring throughout towards Dave, making him super comfortable and relaxed and thoughtful of me and that meant such a lot. My 7th dog, my first experience like that. Hope not to have to do it again but I really appreciate the time and effort and support. The after care, card and respect was so thoughtful and kind. Very caring staff throughout the whole process from the beginning to the end. Thank you to everyone who played apart in caring for him over the years.

The vets are patient, understanding and extremely good at what they do - the nurses are first rate, and there's always a warm welcome at reception. Just be aware - generally booked times are often behind - expect 10/15 wait to be seen. That's not a bad thing - because if me or my pet need extra time during consult, we get it!

I called the emergency line on 9th August due to an injured seagull I found in a supermarket car park. I was told someone would get back to me within 20 minutes. 1hr 30 mins later I still had no reply and unfortunately had to leave. I called back multiple times and when i got through to someone I left a detailed description of where the seagull was. I was told someone would be going out to retrieve the seagull. Today I was back at the same supermarket and I was extremely disappointed to see the body of the seagull in exactly the same spot. Clearly no effort was made to help or retrieve the seagull. If I had an emergency with my own pet I would be terrified to think I'd have to wait hours to even get a response from anyone and then find no one would actually do anything to help my pet.

The service was very good. Everything was done with our dogs mental and physical wellbeing the primary goal. The vet was amazing and the staff also.

The reception staff need re-training. I was told to come in for a check up, weigh, collect tablets, to be told that I should have made an appointment if I actually want to speak to someone. Not a big deal, but the last time I came in (a month ago) there is no record of the weight. Really not sure what I'm receiving for the 16 quid a month apart from the worming tablets, which could quite easily just be sent in the post and possibly sourced elsewhere. Admittedly, I was stressed when I turned up (my dog was pulling like mad) which didn't help the dialogue, but the person behind the counter made no attempt to empathise, offered no accountability and no clarification of the process. A very 'the computer says no' attitude. If I can be bothered, I'll be looking for an alternative vet who can offer me better service and information, rather than the 'just pop in', les affaire approach.

Had a nightmare on holiday with our German Shepherd jumping from a 20ft sea wall, the vets got us in within a couple of hours and the male Veteranian was excellent with how he treated her and gave the correct meds to help her recover put our minds at rest with her for the remainder of our holiday

We were taking the little ones out to lappa valley for the day when we found a baby rabbit that had been wounded. We asked the lady in the lappa valley shop if she could hang onto the rabbit keep an eye on it and if it survived we would take it to the vet on our way home. Well much to my surprise the rabbit had survived very well. All the staff by this time had kept an eye on the rabbit and they were all pleased that the rabbit had come around and was quite lively. One of the staff had said if you take it to the vet that the vet should give something for the grazed wound and probably in a few days it would be ok to release back into the wild. When we phoned the vet they came across as they didn't really want to bother but then said ok bring it down and we will take it off your hands. Wasn't exactly what I expected to hear however we took it to the vet and we said we would like to release it back where it came from. To my astounding shock they took it away and put it to sleep. I was fuming considering 7 people saw how healthy this rabbit was. But as it was a wild animal they were not getting any money for it. This veterinary group is all and only about money and not the care of the animals. Disgraceful.

Over the years we have had our pets registered with just about every Veterinary practice in St Austell and Pelyn Vets are in a league of their own. Always friendly, polite and professional with nothing being too much trouble. As much time as is needed is taken by the team with no pressure to "get you out". I cannot recommend highly enough and the other practices in St Austell could learn some things from Pelyn Vets!
