The lodge we were in was nice, the beds were very uncomfortable for both my wife and I. My boys slept like logs though. The heating was stuck on at what felt like 30Β°c even though the thermostat said 20. The swimming pool was amazing and was included in the cost of the lodge as was the hot tub. The 2 eateries on site where nice the hub did a good breakfast and the retreat did some fantastic food for the evening

β€’ Incorrect accommodation: When I arrived, the lodge didn’t have the sauna or bath. I’ve stayed here before and used the book again option, so I expected the same facilities. I asked to switch but nobody wanted to help and the issue was passed around. β€’ Unclean decking and hot tub area: The decking was completely covered in thick layers of leaves. Getting into the hot tub meant dragging loads of leaves in with you. We ended up cleaning the whole decking ourselvesβ€”basically doing their job for themβ€”so it was ready for the next guests. β€’ Food poisoning from the cafΓ©: I ordered chicken and fries. The chips were extremely salty, and the chicken gave me food poisoning. I reported it to the office but they weren’t interested and passed me on again. I had to go into the cafΓ© to fill in a form myself. My symptoms started within 2–3 hours: cramps, sickness, dizziness, confusion, and intense groin pain. I could barely walk up the lodge steps. After 30 hours I started recovering, and when we went to the restaurant for food they had closed early. We ended up going to Wetherspoonsβ€”probably a blessing, considering the state of the food on-site. The next day I went to the cafΓ© again and they outright denied it was food poisoning, claiming β€œit takes at least 24 hours.” That is absolutely false. It can start within one hour. Perhaps staff at Finlake should google that and educate themselves before dismissing customers. β€’ Late checkout refusal: I asked for a late checkout, given everything that had happened. They wanted to charge Β£30. I asked if it could be waived after the food poisoning incident and was told, β€œyour food poisoning is not our problem.” Outstanding customer service, clearly. βΈ» Summary: The park itself is lovely, but the second you have an issue, you’re treated like dirt on their shoe. Everything is passed around, nobody takes responsibility, and the customer service is shocking. Stay here if you like the placeβ€”but pray you don’t encounter a problem because they’ll play pass-the-parcel with you the entire time. 0 stars.

The place is beautiful. Surrounded by nature and full of paid activities. The prices are a little unexpected and everything has to be pre booked. Even the pool. That you only can use for one hour and can't book it again before a 12 hours slot. We had a lovely bonfire night. Unfortunately I can't say the same about the dogs. It was a big event and nobody has advertised it properly. There are more few shops and restaurants outside. Only few miles away. But be aware if you are planning to stay more than two days. They don't provide much inside the accommodations. As towels to be use on the pools. Spare toilet paper, bin bags or hair dryer. You also will need basic kitchen things. Such as oil, salt ,ice or napkins. Be prepared for rainy days and bring your board games.

This is our first time we stayed here and second time when we've been on site. It seems a lottery - you do not know what you are getting, even though you are paying the same price. Our friends ended up in a very nice lodge, new, big and really well placed. We've been allocated an older version, outdated, full of cobwebs, in a very dark area of the park, with no working TV. The staff were really helpful and sent maintenance and housekeeping as quickly as they could to get everything sorted, but were not willing to move us. It is a bit disappointing that you cannot choose your lodge. Also, being there in November when it gets dark quite early, it seems a bit weird to walk around in the dark - the lighting is not good and while some areas are better than others, overall, it still seems quite dark. They definitely need to invest more in lighting the streets. If you go there, I would recommend getting food from The Hub, rather than The Retreat - cheaper and better. You can also order from your lodge - again, not much information available to explain that. Positives - the hot tub was clean, checked daily and we've even had someone coming to blow the leaves away. Nice location and good (short) walks available around the park.

Went to the swimming pool, nice customer service, pool was very clean, but it's super cold, the air and water. We really struggled. You get hours' worth for your booking. Great little flumes and lovely little play area for the kids. It's nice that the pool starts off shallow and gets deeper, but as I mentioned, it's absolutely freezing.

Had a disappointing start, when our accommodation was changed. We had asked for a lodge that we had stayed in before, we knew it suited us well, as our son is disabled with limited walking. However it was not there fault the lodge had been sold. Had a lovely replacement, not quite as good but perfectly fine. Only problem our hot tub was not working. They tried everything possible but no joy. We got offered the only other pet friendly accommodation left on site,(very busy as it is Christmas) we had a look but it was no good for our son. So we stayed where we were. Very disappointing not to have a hot tub, was looking forward to using it especially on Christmas day, we had some money refunded and after my daughter told reception how disappointed we were, we had a complimentary spa experience gifted to us. Very nice and relaxing. Turned out to be the perfect Christmas after all. Will definitely be back again especially for Christmas. Well done to all the staff for your help, you couldn't of done anything more.

We only went to the indoor pool as day visitors so can only comment on those facilities. I'm extremely pleased to report that from the warm welcome and exceptional hospitality, through the excellent and abundant changing rooms that include several sizes of rooms, family, baby changing and easy accessibility, free lockers, showers and even about 6 free hairdryers with huge mirrors front and behind, on to the best most child friendly indoor water park I personally have seen in this country. With safe shallow pool's featuring multiple small slides, sensory fountains and educational features as well as two excellent big slides for older kids and adults, the whole facility is well staffed. Myself, my partner and our 17 month old son will be going back every week! Cannot recommend it enough, fantastic!

Love Finlake. Have been for lots of trips in the last few years. The pool facility is brilliant and clean and warm showers after. Great food in the restaurant and cafe. The lodge we stayed in was very well equipped and had a lovely spacious living space and hot tub. Bed was very comfy too. Can't wait to come back.

Lovely place, Beautiful settings, great swimming pool with slides and good for little children too. No evening entertainment. Lodge floor was filthy, my baby daughters feet were black! There was also rubbish under one of the beds! housekeeping sorted this quite quickly the following day. Activities were good although a bit pricey.
