   Me and my partner stumbled across this pub in cantley due to the new bypass coming in- it’s been so Close all this time but never stumbled across it for years. Very nice food- really good menu, list of stuff for vegetarians and vegans- all well decent priced, been coming for the the roast dinners for last few Sundays now, only disappointment I’ve had is prawns, but that was a one off and stuff dealt with it really well. Such a cosy pub- looking forward to some Nights down here over the Christmas holidays! Staff are friendly and always entertain us two with a conversation over our pints and foods

   This is great place to go for some top quality food, friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Came here on a Wednesday and had the all you can eat chicken and ribs etc. Service was very quick and the food was awesome. I will definitely be coming back very soon.

   8/8/25 Our yearly visit to relatives found us back at the tavern, another very good meal, all satisfied, my steak k N kidney pudding was lovely, mash was much better than last visit, wife's lasagne was very good too, excellent service. Another yearly visit 16/8/24 Fish N chips was very good (haddock & cod) the mash was poor with my meal, other meals very good, berry meringue was tasty. service a bit slack compared to previous visits, but still worth a look. Very good family meal (7 people) very well priced, the steak N ale pie was with a " puff pastry lid" rather then full pastry but was very tasty, all were satisfied, very good portion of crumble N custard, nice service, 25/8/23 Another very good experience, the spare ribs are huge! Ploughman's lunch also deserves a mention, quite busy for a Thursday lunch time, fantastic value.

   Prawn cocktail starter, lasagne and cod and chips meals. Quiet atmosphere for a Friday night/evening meal. Good portion sizes for the cost, quick service with drinks and food for a large table. Came to £110 for 5 people, 3 having an alcohol drink and 4 pints cola.

   Hadn't been for a while as had a couple of cramped up experiences. Jammed in with fairly average grub. So imagine how surprised when i returned and had one of the best plates of food I'd eaten in ages. They have got it right. Service enough but not intrusive. Food really tasty plate full. Prices are spot on. Definitely gotten it all down to a fine art. Go you won't be disappointed.

   Had a surprise meal for my 60th, got table on time even tho they were busy. Great traditional pub atmosphere in a great restaurant. A table of 8 were treated to excellent service and dispite a electric problem the staff were superb, friendly and knowledgeable. We all had off the menu me sausage and mash my 3 sons had the unlimited wings and ribs. All 8 of us were treated to lovely food and absolutely no complaints it was simply a fantastic way to finish off my birthday. Cant wait to go back and we will definitely be back, thankyou all for making an old man extremely happy.

   Large pub with friendly staff, dog friendly and has nice outdoor area, I had the steak and ale pie which was nice enough but I actually wanted the double burger with bacon and cheese, unfortunately they had run out of burgers which is why they only score the stars, running out on the Wednesday of half term week, bit careless, my wife has the hunters chicken which was also very nice
