“We had a great meal at Gem Turkish Restaurant. The food was fresh, full of flavour, and beautifully presented. The octopus dish, in particular, was absolutely outstanding – easily one of the best I’ve had anywhere. The service was warm and attentive without being overbearing, and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. My only complaint? The remix of Creep by Radiohead that came on during our meal – a complete travesty to music! But even that couldn’t spoil an otherwise excellent evening. Highly recommended.”

“We had a fabulous dinner at Shambles a couple of weeks ago. It was a quiet Tuesday night but the service was swift and friendly and the Chicken Chasseur was delicious. Wine was great, generous glasses and at a reasonable price. Lovely setting and delightful decor. I highly recommend it.”

“Tonight I had a chicken shish and chips, and it was easily one of the best kebabs I’ve had from a takeaway. The chips were moreish, everything was fresh and flavourful. The staff are friendly with a good atmosphere on arrival. 10/10 Will be returning for sure.”

“Huge, huge portions, sadly had to leave about half the fries and husband helped with the ribs. Utterly delicious though! Can't comment on the atmosphere as we ate very early and only two other family groups arrived as we were finishing . The staff were brilliant, friendly and very helpful. “Amazing, absolutely amazing. Me and my partner went to the wine vaults for dinner on a quiet Monday night and we were the only people dining. The server was welcoming and attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was absolutely gorgeous, we had the focaccia bread and pork scratchings for our starter. The focaccia was baked to perfection, if I had more room in my stomach I would’ve eaten the entire loaf. Four our mains we had the duck and the beef wellington. Both were absolutely perfect, with a special mention to the truffle mash that came with the beef wellington, I would go back just for a bowl. The wine vaults is that restaurant you always hear great things about but never get around to going - but you need to! The food alone is 5 star and the service is impeccable!”

“My granddaughter took me for afternoon tea for my birthday. It was super! I especially enjoyed the savouries which were delicious and so much nicer and more interesting than the usual sandwiches and sausage rolls.”

“A few years back this was residents only and not open to the public, however under a different ownership it is now open to all. They have bingo on a Tuesday which isn’t my thing and the participants do not like a lot of noise so steer clear if you’re in a group and not a fan of bingo. Thursdays from around 15:30 is very lively with a great atmosphere and the locals are really friendly and welcoming. Food is good and especially the portion size. The bar staff are amazing especially Kelly who looked after us during our visits. The venue is dog friendly which is an added bonus for me with my 2 border collies. Weekends they have live music and encourage you to dance. The place is decorated very nice, clean and very welcoming. If you a holidaying locally such as Park Deans I highly recommend a visit.”

“Great food, attentive staff, good portions. It was our first visit to Bar 1 and staff were very kind and welcoming. Lots of choice of drinks and food. We ordered B1 Burger and Barbecue wings. Delicious food at a reasonable price.”

“Great decor and location next to river, cocktail's quite sweet and not at a top level but came here for food which was very nice and plenty on plate for what you pay. Staff very pleasant, attentive and helpful. Unable to score on atmosphere as was a late lunch so was a bit quiet, would definitely return for an evening meal.”

“Great Restaurant It's a relatively old restaurant. But it's not a problem at all. It has survived so long it means it's quite competitive locally in my opinion. The environment is cosy and rustic but well cleaned. It provides extra seats for the table for two customers to put their stuff. Tables are not too close to each other that make every customer have more personal space. The menu is massive. It took us a while to make decisions. The food was in generous size. The lamb fell off the bone, very tender. It was enough for a male adult. The rice was well flavoured, I think it was cooked with broth. The seafood was well cooked. The chips were generous amount and hot. The staff are nice and helpful. Looking forward to the next visit.”

“I have never been so impressed with service. I have a allergy to Olives which is uncommon but we had lovely service and were made sure that there is no cross contamination, we were told that the kitchen cleaned down and prepped fresh vegetables for our meal especially for me. I have never felt so cared about in an establishment. I am floored and so impressed and just amazing!! Very yummy food too!! Thank you so much!!”

“Strangely located attached to a garden centre, but don't let that put you off. Seating and tables were basic but adequate. Staff were all friendly and accommodating. I had the mixed grill and I have never seen so much meat on a plate, and it was all excellently cooked...my medium steak was actually cooked as medium too. We were a group of 18 people having various dishes, and all had plenty and all enjoyed their meals. I would definitely go again and I would make sure I was just as hungry beforehand as I was on this occasion.”

“Had a friend visiting the area who couldn't wait to go to the beach so, after a stroll along the promenade we called into The Fig. They confirmed we could take our little dog in (to the rooftop area). The sun was shining and it was teatime so it was the perfect setting & view. Ordering was easy via the QR code on the table. Seats were comfy and not to crammed in. The food was amazing when it came out. Good portion size a fantastic flavours. I would have also sampled the cocktails...but I was driving! Next time I'll take the hubby and he can drive lol. Service was excellent too. Very friendly staff.”

“Visited today for a late Father's Day meal. Asked for the set menu, not a lot of choice but still good enough mixture, my food was good. Service was fantastic, fast, and friendly. Also, 2for1 on cocktails, so they went down a treat. Bottomless on the diet coke, so well worth the money.”
