This place is an absolute Gem. The staff here are very welcoming, friendly and attentive. Such a pretty place in a pretty part of the world tucked away in a lovely little village and a real treat on a walk in the local surroundings. On entering the building you can sense its steeped in an abundance of history, oh to be able to touch a wall and travel to past times. Their tea garden is very peaceful and pretty with an array of flowers a real spectacle for the eyes as time passes by as you enjoy a lovely cream tea and the bird song to go with it. The ambience of the indoor tea room is very warm and cozy I’m sure I spotted a log fire on passing through to the tea garden that I’m sure would make winter visits even more pleasant. The smells as you walk through the building morphs from beautiful fresh baked breads and cakes, to fresh brewed coffee with a light smell of their lavender candles that they also sell in their shop. Honestly this place will be bookmarked for us for future walks as we have not long moved a short journey away we look forwards to sharing memories over the years to come as this first visit was with our first born who is under a year old and was very welcomed by staff and other guests. Please do pay this place a visit to experience it for yourself but please don’t take our seats as we would be gutted if their wasn’t any room for us to stop by for a lovely cream tea.

This is the epitome of a country tea room. The best home made food, and they are such lovely people. The vegan options tasted amazing too!

Lovely afternoon tea place in the beautiful center of Alfriston. Cosy indoor spaces and a beautiful back patio garden for smaller groups. The afternoon tea was beautiful and delicious, and excellent service throughout. We will be back!

This teahouse really embodies community and kindness, I cannot rate it highly enough! I was immediately greeted with a smile and lovely warm energy, really some of the most friendly service I have ever received in my life. The fruit scone was perfection, and I had to take away a slice of cake because it sounded so good! (spoiler: it was!!) The interior and the garden are both gorgeous and relaxing places to chat or read a book. You simply must visit!

Me and my husband went to Badgers Teahouse on a Friday afternoon. The service was fantastic and we were promptly seated in the quaint little garden area. Perfect seating area for a sunny day! We ordered the afternoon tea for 2 and it did disappoint! The sandwiches were very fresh, full of flavour and on lovely soft sourdough bread. My husband particularly enjoyed the ham and mango chutney sandwich, a lovely twist from the norm! The cakes and scones were outstanding, they were moist and full of flavour. We would happily say this was one of the best afternoon teas we have ever had. We also loved the homemade candles they had lit throughout the tearoom, the lavender one smelt amazing! Thanks for having us and we certainly will be returning.

Visited with two friends from Thailand who wanted the ‘English’ tearoom experience. Well they got it in spades, starting with bone china tea sets, toasted tea cakes and scones with clotted cream. The staff also played their role and were wonderful and attentive. This is a great tearoom and should not be missed when visiting Alfriston.

Really lovely tea house in amazing 500 year old building. The food and the cakes we're delicious and the tea and coffee was great too! We didn't have afternoon tea, but saw others that ordered and it looked really lovely. The staff was really friendly and attentive, family run. The interiors and the decorations are really nice and there is a lovely garden at the back. Would recommend anyone who's in the area to visit this place!

Really lovely Tea House. Beautifully decorated, with a really nice garden out the back. The hot food is really tasty - simple fresh ingredients really well cooked. The cakes and scones are the best around, and there's a great tea selection. Definitely pop in if you are in the area - it's the best place in town.

Ended up coming here based on a recommendation and did not regret it one bit. Unfortunately they didn't have the cream tea that I ventured there for, but their Victoria sponge and flapjack were very worthy replacements. The five stars isn't just for the great tea or the cake, but more for the warm welcome and feeling during the visit, the lovely garden area and the friendly conversation from the recent owners. If you're in Alfriston or you're passing through, make sure to make a stop here. I'm sure you'll be writing a review of your own like this.
