A huge thank you to EVERYONE involved in putting together and delivering a perfect Christmas Day Lunch 2025 experience. After a short, very cold winter walk around the magical village of Firle, we arrived at The Ram Inn, where the welcome was warm and friendly. Our table was by an open fire in the bar area, a perfect spot to soak up the Christmas buzz as we all savoured our six-course Christmas lunch. We'd been asked in advance to choose from a thoughtful menu, with time to enjoy each course, which was served with care over an extended period. Thank you once again to everyone who worked so hard both behind the scenes and those who interacted with the guests, thank you, thank you for giving up your Christmas Day and delivering a very special Christmas Day Lunch for those of us who were lucky enough to have booked The Ram Inn on Christmas Day this year.

We had our family Christmas Eve meal at The Ram Inn in Firle and it was absolutely outstanding. Fantastic atmosphere, excellent food, and truly great staff and service throughout the visit. Our grandson and our dog were both made to feel very welcome, which meant a lot to us as a family. This was our second visit, and choosing The Ram for such a special family occasion was an easy decision — and it didn’t disappoint. We’ll definitely be back again.

Stayed at the Ramm Inn twice and absolutely loved it. The rooms are so beautiful, the pub its self is dark & cozy with lit fireplaces and candles everywhere. It’s original and stylish decor. The food is 10/10. The breakfast is served in a gorgeous room. The atmosphere is very special here.

I organised a lunch for 20 people in the private dining room and had a wonderful experience. The staff were brilliant, proactive and quick to response, helping me from the very start with all the logistics and organising. On the day, they styled the room beautifully, service was fantastic and food was amazing. Really tasty seasonal ingredients and great value. All of my guests were so impressed. Thank you to the team, especially Meghan, for all their help!

So disappointed. Used to come here a lot, last time was around 7 years ago I guess. When we arrived staff said hello then turned their back on us and had a private conversation for several minutes, Service was very slow despite there being very few customers. Staff were in general fairly polite, but totally disinterested. Of the starters we ordered mackerel which I’m told was good and carrot soup which was so salty two of us struggled. For mains we ordered a ploughman’s, (which I’m told was very good) two Chicken Milanese with fries and Hake with addition fries. The food was fine, but all the fries including the portion we paid £5 for were so salty two of us couldn’t eat them. One of us thought the green salad was also over salted. I do like salt and persevered but this was incredibly salty, even I couldn’t finish them. A good chef knows how to season food but is it necessary to salt fries when there is salt on the table? I mentioned it to the server he just mumbled ‘sorry about that’ and walked off. It was part of my 60th birthday present, so disappointed I didn’t bother with dessert. Other people in the pub looked to be enjoying their meal, but I won’t be returning. The food was not cheap at all, I would have expected restaurant standard of both food and service but it fell well below parr.

Used to be my favourite pub 10 years ago... visit at least once a year. Nice place to sit outside in the sun and enjoy a beer. On a recent visit it finally lost its score overall. For the price I would have expected a steak cooked as requested and exceptional, it was overcooked and the food was just 'ok'. £15 for a pretty bad glass of wine....come on, sort it out, service charge automatically added. Disappointed

Me and my girlfriend stayed for a night for my birthday and it was gorgeous. We had the Birdcage room which had a gorgeous big bed and bath big enough for us both. The food in the restaurant/pub was incredible. When we arrived we had a glass of fizz with a sharing plate of puddings to die for! Our 3 course dinner was exquisite. Honestly, the food was just brilliant. The staff on hen we visited were also really lovely. Very approachable and professional. Ben especially really made us feel looked after and laughed at our jokes even if they weren't very funny.

Food was beautifully presented. Very nice and welcoming staff. I had the lamb which was extremely tender & tasty, but overall I didn't think it was worth the £22 price tag. Dessert was wonderful also, and it is a quaint, traditional pub in the middle of the Sussex countryside

I stayed here with a group of friends for my wedding. The location and building are beautiful, an authentic country pub with log fires burning in the bar, and cute little rooms upstairs. Each room is unique; large, comfortable and well-appointed with fresh coffee, lovely teas, and a cafetière. It’s worth bearing in mind that my room only had a bath, not a shower, and I think the others were the same. That might surprise some visitors although it’s not a huge problem. I was also a little disappointed that after using the cafetière on the first morning, it then wasn’t cleaned when my room was made up, so the next morning I discovered it full of used coffee grains and had to wash it out myself in the sink. The main reason for docking a star, though, was the extraordinarily slow service at breakfast. Both mornings, the cooked breakfast options took well over half an hour to arrive and in some cases I think it was pushing 45 minutes. That seems excessive especially given that breakfasts are usually relatively straightforward and quick. That said, the staff were friendly and doing their best.

Today I went to have lunch with my son . I have been seriously ill so this was a joy. However we were asked to move from my preferred table, which was pre-booked the day before with a member of staff on the phone. It is my son’s birthday! I have been coming here for 20 years. Firstly being moved ruined my lunch. We were placed in the bar by the kitchen, the door was open and it was very cold. I asked for the door to be shut and the very abrupt waitress said it had to stay open. I asked in that case can you light the fire which used to be a lovely feature of the pub. Again the answer was an abrupt No. The young waitress that did look after us was charming. The food arrived and it was shockingly bad, the mussels were small and over cooked and cold. Simply speaking there was no care or service . The owner was more interested in her dogs than her clientele. I won’t be coming again. To top it all £12.75 for a glass of SB is totally ridiculous. That’s a loyal customer who owns a huge local company not booking his Christmas party! I almost never complain but this was shockingly bad . I am afraid when your dogs are treated better than you fee paying clients, something has gone badly wrong…
