The cosiest pub with the nicest staff. The staff in general are always super friendly, especially Mimi who has served us a few times now. Happy to have this as our local, and the roast dinner is on our bucket list.

Popped in for impromptu lunch and chat with a mate. Warm, jolly welcome. Beer (Long Man) very pleasant and nicely kept. Food was excellent (I had the gammon, egg and chips - nice piece of meat, plenty of it and very tasty, my friend had a burger). Both very happy with the food, service and ambiance. Decamped outside for a smoke, to the large, covered seating area (with booths and heaters); we were so comfy we stayed outside for the rest of our visit. In all we stayed about 4-5 hours.

Had a roast there last Sunday it was excellent as always! Really good staff team and they have to be as it gets really busy! Despite it being full, the atmosphere is relaxed though, great tunes, good beer and nice peeps. Definitely recommend it.

What a lovely rainy day. I haven’t been in this pub for over 7 years, went last Sunday for a roast, and really enjoyed it. The food was fenomenal, delicious and the portion sizes perfect.

Nice little off the beaten track pub, but be aware they increase their prices at weekends. I paid nearly £30 for 2 pints and a large scotch, haven’t tried the food but it looked nice. Update after reply by owner. I’m sorry I got your pricing structure wrong I was told by a local “prices go up at weekends” after I commented that the prices were a bit steep, so I used that information. As far as the large scotch is concerned, I did say to the barman, I didn’t want the house whisky so maybe he took the opportunity to sell me single malt? I really do feel that your prices are a little higher than average, which presumably is why you reduce them during the week, these days some people are on a budget and may feel a bit out of their depth at weekends, I feel that the object of a review is to give an accurate description of one’s experience, I have said I thought the pub is very nice. I did enjoy my visit.

Good quality food. However ordered the camembert for £13 and it came with only 1 slice of bread. One slice of bread for an entire camembert?!? I paid for extra bread and only got 1 slice more. Why skimp on the bread? The other portions that came alongside the camembert (chutney, olives etc) were also a bit too small. On a positive note, the chicken wings and blue cheese sauce were delicious. Although, we didn’t get any celery sticks, something we realised after leaving.

Had a lovely veggie roast today, one of the better ones I’ve had (and I’ve tried a lot!). Very cosy inside and nice staff. Will be back!

Favourite pub in Brighton. Always a great atmosphere, staff are so lovely and welcoming, great selection of drinks and they do a 10/10 Sunday roast!! Highly recommend

A vibrant neighborhood pub that was once a railway hotel, many many years ago. The West and South facing garden is a delight on a warm day and the interior is cosy and spacious. The Sunday roast options are exceptionally good but booking in advance is highly recommended. Dogs are welcome, so long as their human is with them! There's a good selection of beers (including 3 alcohol free) and wines. Use their website to book a table and see the current menu - it's all very efficient. The pub is in a residential parking area so, if your not local, be ready to hunt for a spot. Better still, the train will take you virtually to the front door as you come out of London Road station.
