First time having a Sunday roast here, recommend booking in advance as it's popular for a good reason! Nut roast GF but unfortunately not the giant Yorkshire puds! Great drink selection and warm staff...

We were with a small group for my husband’s birthday. Nice reasonably priced menu. The food was good and service very friendly. There was also live music which was good. Good, friendly pub. Worth a visit if you are in the area

I can wholeheartedly recommend the ancient mariner for a fantastic meal! We were a group and we’re in for a lunchtime get together. We opted for a wide range of small plates which were all excellent and i must make a special mention about the braised beef and cheddar croquettes and the battered fish and chips was out of this world.

Had a really delicious meal here tonight. I had the guinea fowl supreme and my friend had the venison burger, and they were both fantastic. Perfectly cooked meat, tender poultry with crispy skin, and excellent sides. The chef happened to be in the dining area and he was very friendly and helped us decide to be a little more adventurous and order the game dishes, which we didn't regret! The service was friendly all around, and there was also a really good selection of non-alcoholic drinks that weren't just soft drinks or juice. There was also a fixed-price menu available with 3 courses for £20 which looked like a great option too. Would definitely come back!

Come here every Thursday for the retro gaming night, it's brilliant! 12 retro consoles and literally thousands of games to choose from, and the staff are so helpful and so knowledgeable and passionate about gaming. Attracts a really lovely and friendly crows, and a great opportunity to meet gamers in the local area. 10/10!!!

Great local pub. Good beer selection, lovely atmosphere and tasty Thai food. Really nice selection of starters to share among our group.
