So this pub was a lovely little country style pub. Despite the decoration, which was a bit dated country pub, the service was great and the food was nice. You got plenty of food on your plate, in fact probably too much. For example the steak came with chips, onion rings, tomato, mushrooms, peas and salad. The staff were very friendly and helpfully. Overall great pub and value for money.

Whether popping in for a Sunday roast or a mid week meal, this pub is a hidden gem. Whilst from the front and bar you see an old fashioned pub, the locals make it a welcoming pub, and the food is always excellent.

Visited for the first time as a last minute dinner option and was so glad we did. Was given a very warm and friendly welcome even though it was quite a busy evening that involved a farewell party and a fish and chips night. The owner even brought us some cake over from the party, it was very much appreciated. My partner is gluten free and so the chef pan fried the haddock for her, tasty and again appreciated. We were also very interested to see the curry night on Mondays and the Thali (Indian tapas) on Saturday nights and we will be booking. We will definitely be visiting again!

Landlady was unfriendly and miserable, food mediocre not that hot either, we were "squeezed" in at 3pm it was Mothers Day and it was empty , the only saving grace was the young boy who served us who was really nice. 6 adults and 1 child adults and a 2 year

Honest pub, how it should be. Carvery was ok, not amazing but not bad. Worth the money but the only issue is that the tables are very tightly crammed together so the comfort is compromised for covers, although the back room was not set and empty? Price reasonable for honest food. The boys serving were very polite and professional.

5 star food hygiene rating, but 2 star score for experience from me sadly. Its a small, dated looking, isolated pub, the conservatory/marquee extension at the back isn't appealing to sit in. Shabby sheets safety pinned up for drapes isn't great looking. Carvery is rudimentary, nice veg, chewy meats . It looks like the place is struggling. OK for drink n chips if desperate. Photos posted are highly flattering.

We were at The Dove, Poringland on Sunday for The Trekkers Christmas walk and lunch. After a lovely walk in the area we were very ready for our yummy carvery here. There was so much choice, four meats and a variety of vegetables plus a variety of desserts both hot and cold for an amazing price of £9.95 for the carvery and £4.50 for a dessert! Such good value and good hot food. The pub is a really traditional country pub with a beautiful log fire! The staff were friendly and helpful and we even had a visit from Santa!! A good place to go for a cosy pub lunch in the Countryside.

Booked a lunchtime table for our anniversary. We had been before at Christmas. The bar room was cosy with a lovely fire burning. We went through to the conservatory and picked a table. Love the decor in there. We went through to the next room to get our carvery. We had 2 good slices of the meat of our choice (turkey, beef or pork) a sausage, yorkshire pudding and as much veg as you desire. It was all very hot and tasty. At a good price of £5.95. We then had a choice of 6 delicious desserts for only £2 each. I had strawberry gateau and cream and was surprised when I got 2 slices. Beautiful. The waitress was friendly. Thoroughly recommend
