   After shopping here for years without issues (even using vitality to get 25% cashback on healthy purchases) I decided to try a big shop here with my partner. For some reason my partner was treated like a thief at self checkout because a couple items she scanned were in my bags already paid for (we shared a cart then split the shop, and used the scan and shop so we could stay within our respective budgets). We have not had this issue at any other store. We had to wait 10 minutes and made to feel guilty as everything had to be checked and rescanned, we were told we arent allowed to pay for each others things and we cant mix our shops. The staff seemed quite stressed and annoyed with us. The only thing i paid for from hers was a loaf of bread and another small item. Nothing was stolen, nothing was unpaid for. The clerj kept asking my partner "why didnt you scan this, why is your bread not here" and such. It was very strange. I guess they have a lot of thieves so we were a targer, despite me shopping here for years I already find shopping stressful enough, dont need more faff on top of it. I shouldnt be worried about stern airport security in a shop. The biggest irony is the way the clerk scanned it, by the time we got home we realized the clerk specifically caused a couple small items to go unpaid for. So all the trouble lost the company a few pounds whereas we were paying in full prior... also dont they have scanners at the end of these stores to prevent shoplifting? Due to this humiliating experience i have not come here since and strictly avoid waitrose despite it being our closest main store. We walk to m&s now and order from other shops. I quietly and successfully quit waitrose permanently due to this (its been a few months) but figured i should write a review to warn others. At the very least just use a traditional cashier queue to avoid being bullied.

   I wanted to share how wonderful of an experience I had today. A lovely gentleman on the fish counter served me today, and he said it was his first day. He was the most lovely, warm and sweet person, and he really is an asset to the store, so well done to whoever employed him, you've done an amazing job! Everytime I shop in this waitrose the staff are so so wonderful, I swear they know you need a little kindness sometimes, and they treat you as such. Thank you!

   Usually I ignore this store,but decided to go in and check out the curry sauces they sell and get my lottery tickets. I must confess I was not impressed with the lottery/kiosk. The member of staff on it had this absurd smile fixed to their face and kept getting up from the chair slowly ,getting things for customers,dawdling back to the chair ,sitting, then standing again with apparently no sense of how ridiculous and time wasting it was.For goodness sake ,if there is a queue ,stand up, look ready and attentive. Real life ain't meant to be a Two Ronnies scetch.

   Great shop in the middle of brighton and hove. Deceptively large and has everything one could want. The staff in here are friendly and knowledgeable and there are more tills here than you can poke a stick at. The self service ones at least, but noone really wants manned tills anyway, too much conversation for my liking. Anyway I digress, great shop and good selection of flowers also

   This has been the best location as I shop locally for groceries. The store is very clean and well stocked. They have a wide selection of goods from food, to cleaning supplies, detergents, etc. I’ve also noticed the prices are very competitive here and beat many of the other locations in the area. Would recommend taking a look for your grocery needs.

   Been coming here since 1990. Its become very overpriced. The offers make items still overpriced often. In fact the offers are an insult to the customers intelligence. They do instore local delivery but would not deliver the water I wanted. 5 of (6 x 1.5litre). Yes a lot, but, they said they would only do two for h&s reasons, but online they will deliver 3 packs. Tesco do 6 packs I found out! I don't need just 2 delivered for £5 charge, what's the point?? Then there's the issue with the security guards following everyone about (not just me either, it's a well known issue here) Then there's the staff hovering about the self checkouts, making sure you haven't pocketed anything to the point I prefer to use the proper checkout. The fresh veg is not as fresh always and the maris pipers are constantly riddled with black bits that you cant see because of the white packaging. Everything is more expensive, but they do have the odd thing that is worth going for still. Id be sad if it went unless a bigger M&S was built here instead of course

   Comfortable supermarket with a selection of produce that goes just a step further than the average supermarket. I was looking for advice for a good amount of cheese for a dinner party, and am impressed by the help I got from the man behind the counter. And what was so cool: you can taste the cheese before you buy! For an inner-city supermarket it has good parking.
