   The setting of the restaurant (in a beautifully situated hotel) as well as it's reputation really set it up with high expectations. Gotta say, the food was not just excellent, the display of it on the plate was nice. Even the next day we were speaking about the starters, and that's a rare occurrence. (Gambas, mackerel, feta, salmon starters). The mains were just as well prepared and presented. Bream, Lamb and Tagine: all had a wonderfully deep flavour profile. The pea risotto was a bit 'soupy.' Be prepared, the room does not have many soft sound-absorbing surfaces so it gets loud. Especially if there are just a couple of loud talkers in the room.

   My friend and I booked in for afternoon tea. Sadly the restaurant was very empty, so not much of an atmosphere. The staff were friendly and the service good. The sandwiches were delicious, especially the ham ones. Unfortunately the scones and cake/sweet offerings were very disappointing, lacking in taste and obviously not fresh.

   Elegant colonial style hotel with modern comforts whilst retaining period features, set in the South Downs National Park in the picturesque idyllic historic village of Alfriston. Highly recommend booking early and going for a room with a veranda access which had perfect views over the gardens at the National park. Set close to the sea, vineyard and the quaint village shops and restaurants which are all wonderful. We ate in the private dining room on the first night with a group where the food was spectacular. My lamb was a standout dish that I'll remember along with the white chocolate mousse. The rooms were immaculate and had a coffee maker and tea area. We could have done with a few more hangers and hooks in the bathroom to hang towels. Staff were friendly and accommodating. If you plan to go out till late, take a front door key as they lock the doors at 10pm. Breakfast was delicious and flexible as they can add/remove items upon request without fuss. Continental selection was limited but gluten free and vegan options are available on request. There is a guests only first come first serve car park to the rear, which had enough space for us and we didn't struggle to park. Beautiful place that was a wonderful place to relax, enjoy and stay. Highly recommend.

   This is a late review from our October escape but I did promise to say how amazing the entire team were at this delightful property. Stunning ensuite rooms. Fantastic food and seriously friendly and professional hospitality which you would struggle to beat. We had supper, breakfast and afternoon tea at the hotel and there was so much to do and see on the South Downs that we booked to come back twice more! Thank you for looking after us all so very well. Especially your fab receptionist who was full of Information and enthusiasm. Top marks to you.

   I am happy to post a very positive review after a very enjoyable stay at Wingrove House. I thought the menu was good and I had several excellent meals prepared to a very high standard. Front of house staff friendly and professional and the characterful bedroom was very clean and comfortable. Definitely deserved 5 stars and thanks to staff and management.

   Wow - Exceptional! We went for dinner and were very impressed. Clearly chefs that are passionate about their food and the guests enjoyment! The whole team gave great service in a comfortable environment. We will return and look forward to a warm sunny evening for sitting on the beautiful terrace. Highly recommended.

   We stayed here for our 10 year wedding anniversary. First child free night away in 7.5 years. Room was lovely and the staff added a few extras to make us feel special which was totally unexpected. We enjoyed a lovely evening drink on the restaurant terrace and breakfast was lovely and lots of choice. Highly recommended if looking for a romantic break.
