We had a work conference here for 1 night. The staff were amazing and very helpful though the whole event. The rooms were spacious with lovely decor. Had a partial sea view, which was amazing to see during the day.
I was previously an EF Malta student and was completely satisfied with the residence there. That was my expectation when I came here, but I was shocked by what I encountered. First of all, I will start with the room. The room they gave me was a room with a bunk bed for two, even though it was not very difficult for one person to fit in. I felt like I was in a military barracks. The bathroom is so small that if you have claustrophobia while taking a shower, you should not use this shower. Lastly, the bed shook when someone walked in the next room. Secondly, regarding the staff, the older staff are friendly and helpful, but the younger staff act like agents. If you enter the room with a big bag in your hand, they come to check your room within 10 minutes. One time, they came to check while I was sleeping at 2:30 at night. Everyone was shocked. Finally, let me talk about the laundry room. If you want to use the washing machine, you have to pay 3 pounds. If you want to use the dryer, you have to pay 2 pounds. This incident shocked me because we had our own washing machine in Malta and we could use it whenever we wanted. I paid an extra 550 dollars for this hotel and the funny thing is, if you are thinking of coming to EF Brighton, do not choose this hotel.
One star only for the view which was obstructed by scaffolding which has been in place for months (from pictures and reviews -still no renovation has been done). Windows were so dirty that they looked like noone has ever cleaned them. We paid extra £25 for bringing our small dog with us. I can only comment on the room which was given to us: Room very dated and in need of complete renovation. This room should not be used for guests ! Staff not very friendly. The receptionist did not know what she was doing. She told us the wrong time for checking out and did not warn about scaffolding. Do not stay here! Pay an extra £5 or stay few meters further away from the beach but do not stay here! I will not be staying again and I would not recommend.
We were very skeptical staying here after reading the reviews but we were pleasantly surprised with our stay at the Brighton hotel! We stayed for 3 nights, the room (311) we stayed in was clean and must have been recently renovated as room was modern and bathroom was lovely with a bath. There is scaffolding up currently but this doesn’t block the sea view up massively. We found breakfast okay with a good options to chose from however we found we waited a while for order to be taken. We would stay here again.
Amazing hotel for a family stay. The hotel feels very homey and the staff are super friendly. We stayed with a toddler and everyone was extremely nice, they interacted with him and by the time we left our kiddo had a bunch of friends there. We are definitely coming back. Take a king size room for extra comfort, normal double is to spend the night and nothing more. The location is great - right on the promenade, where the burned down pier is. Breakfast could use some improvement but it didn't bother us provided the service we got there.
The room was good, it had all the accommodations we needed. Although the car park was too small forcing us to park far away. The service was fair. I think the location is great, because it forces you to walk along the shore and see the other sites if Brighton than just the lanes and the pier. It is a nice walk as well, about 15 minutes from the lanes.
You get what you pay for and we were very happy with our room. We had a great sea view and decent size room. Staff were friendly and place is clean, the bar downstairs looks smart but we were there with the kids and didn't get a chance to use it! Only real issue was the floors are a bit wonky and creaky due to the buildings age... so noise transmits more than modern hotels. But overall decent hotel on the western end of Brighton seafront.
