Such a lovely place, the weather was beautiful today which of course makes everything look better but the birds, the walk, the boats all looked splendid. Age is not a barrier, bring the family, enjoy the woodland and quiet beauty..
One of my favourite RSPB places to visit in the UK, seen Marsh Harriers each time I have been, otters, kingfishers and many other birds. Lovely and quiet during the day, big carpark and cheap enough for the experience. Hides are in good condition and signage is also very good.
Fantastic rspb nature reserve. I saw a bittern, marsh harrier,bitter, cormoranta, moorhen just at the hide at the entrance. Lovely easy and short trails. The fen trail can get a little wet depending on the time of day/year. They also do events which sound great (both for kids and adults). Highly recommend
Pleasant and attractive RSPB reserve on the Norfolk/Suffolk border, with a variety of habitat including wetlands, water meadows and woodland. Not a massive reserve, so easy to walk around and spend time in for a day visit. Home to plenty of bird life, such as bittern and rare insects including the swallowtail butterfly and multitudes of dragonflies. Hides at locations overlooking the wetlands and waymarked walks all help the visitor experience.
By far my most favourite RSPB site. Volunteers are wonderful & there’s always something to see. It’s a beautiful walk and really peaceful through the wooded area. The baby barn owls have certainly put a show on lately!
It's beautiful with easy to follow trails whether you are bird watching river activity watching or just wandering you will enjoy your walk ..coffee and cakes too but could do with a bigger seating area
A really lovely way to spend a morning or afternoon. The wildlife is thriving, the variety of birds is vast. Plenty of space for everyone, although it wasn't busy when we went. Carpark is free, and with disabled spaces. The paths are not paved, so could be a challenge for some, and wheelchair users may not be able to go on the grassy paths. The hides are all up steps, and one is called the "tower" hide for a reason. The longer route takes you over the railway line ... Twice. The second time there is a style, so may not be suitable for everyone. Plenty of places to take pictures. A bird lovers delight. You do have to pay to enter, but the money goes to a good cause. Worth a visit.
I love this place, it's perfect to escape to and immerse yourself in nature, with well managed wetlands and wooded areas along with educational information for children. There is pond dipping for children and hides to immerse yourself into the wetland world and the staff are helpful and informative. On my last visit I entered thinking I would have a couple of hours wandering as I was so busy with work, but I just got so engrossed that I left after 5 hours, seeing a Kingfisher fishing, Heron fishing and 8 species of Butterflies, but not before enjoying a tub of Gooseberry ice cream. I would definitely recommend it to any nature lover
What a beautiful, magical space. You can see all wonders of wildlife from otters to Marsh Harriers, from dragonflies to Chinese water deer.(if you're lucky!) Its a wonderful day out for the whole family.
