We were so pleased to stay at Riverdale House on the last stop of the South Downs Way. Our room was spacious, clean and well stocked (fresh milk!). breakfast was a feast to set us up for our last leg of the walk. The views were fantastic, so peaceful. Thanks to Richard and Judy for hosting us so well and accommodating us with recommendations for dinner & torches for the return walk from the village.

What a stunning property! The house is simply spectacular, and the room I stayed in was clean, beautiful and well stocked with toiletries and teas/coffees/hot chocolate. There was even cookies that were so delicious! The hosts were super friendly and made some lovely suggestions for supper. My breakfast was lovely. I wish I’d had more time to stay longer because it was just brilliant.

We stayed at Riverdale House overnight while walking the South Downs Way. The spacious Victorian property is ideally located. Judy and Richard were very welcoming and helpful. Our room was comfortable and we appreciated the 'extras'- home made biscuits, fresh milk and ground coffee . An excellent breakfast in the Conservatory was greatly enjoyed! Thank you!

A one night stay for a mountain biking trip. Location is great for numerous routes within the South Downs and close enough for an easy walk into the lovely Afriston. Richard was very welcoming and friendly and accommodating for an earlier check-in. The room was very comfortable and had everything we needed including tea/coffee and amazing home made cookies. I had some trouble getting hot water to the shower but Richard quickly fixed that for me. Full English breakfast was just right with very good quality sausages and bacon. Overall - highly recommended!

We spent 3 nights at Riverdale House in August 22, while visiting Glyndebourne Opera. We found Richards hospitality really convincing and enjoyed our stay very much. The rooms are really comfortable, the beds excellent. The house is located very conveniently for Alfriston, Glyndebourne, the coast etc., the made to order breakfast very good. Will most likely be back next year.

Quite simply stunning! Beautiful room, location, plenty of parking, breakfast looking out over a gorgeous vista. Lovely walk to Seven Sisters and nice to be able to walk to Alfriston for dinner. Looking forward to going back!

We stayed in the garden Room as we wanted to avoid stairs. What a treat that we could sit outside the house with the views. If it wasn't so sunny, there was a porch you can step out to from the room meaning you could still be outside and stay dry. I suspect the other rooms had bigger bathrooms but this "outside space" more than made up for that. In addition to the small fridge for milk in our room there was a larger one in the guest lounge where we kept our picnic treats. As other reviews mentioned, we had home made biscuits each day. Richard and Judy were excellent hosts. Generous and knowledgeable. We would have no hesitation staying here or recommending this beautiful, elegant home.

Riverdale house was a pleasant stop on our last leg of The South Downs way. Judy was very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean, tidy and had a lovely view of the countryside. The house itself was full of character features. The breakfast was lovely and the location was spot on. Overall very pleased!

What a wonderful welcoming B&B as an overnight stop during our South Down Walk. The room was spacious, clean, very comfortable and had a good choice of hot drinks and even a mini fridge. The garden was available with seating to enjoy the wonderful views. It was a short walk from the village with fabulous places to eat. Richard was a great host and so was Jenny who served us our wonderful breakfast. Would definitely visit again.
